Abstract: A bicycle sprocket has a rotational center axis. The bicycle sprocket comprises a sprocket body and sprocket teeth. The sprocket teeth include at least one first tooth and at least one second tooth. The at least one first has a first radial-tooth height. The at least one second tooth is adjacent to the first tooth and disposed on a downstream side in a rotational driving direction of the bicycle sprocket. The at least one second tooth has a second radial-tooth height. The first radial-tooth height is greater than the second radial-tooth height. The at least one first tooth includes a tooth tip having an axial center plane in an axial direction. The axial center plane of the tooth tip is offset from the axial center plane of the sprocket body in the axial direction.

Abstract: A low-cost railway vehicle gear device of parallel cardan drive system is provided in which the vibrations and noises can be reduced only by means of 2-D tooth surface modifications. In a railway vehicle gear device of parallel cardan drive system having a helical pinion (1) and a helical gear wheel (2), a pinion and a gear wheel respectively having gear specifications of module of 4 to 8, pressure angle of 20 to 30°, and helix angle of 15 to 30°, crowning is performed on a gear surface in the flank line direction of the pinion. The tooth surface (11) has a shape of a sinusoidal curve with an apex (11a) being positioned in a central area of the face width direction of the pinion, the sinusoidal curve being expressed by a single sinusoidal function and extending over an entire width in the face width direction of the helical pinion.

Abstract: An actuation mechanism for a valve comprises a first member having a generally spherical surface on a first side of a bisecting line and a generally ellipsoidal surface on a second side of the bisecting line. The first member is rotatable around a central point of the bisecting line. The valve has a second member with a truncated ellipsoidal surface on both sides of a bisecting line. The second member matingly engages the first member at the first member ellipsoidal surface. The valve also includes a longitudinal member coupled to the second member and a biasing member coupled to the longitudinal member. The first member is rotated around the central point from a first position to a second position to move the second member and the longitudinal member linearly. The biasing member returns the first member and second member to the first position upon release of the first member.

Abstract: A bicycle chain ring for engaging a chain link of a bicycle chain, the bicycle chain ring including an inner edge fully circumscribing both an opening and an axis of rotation, an inner surface extending between the inner edge and an outer edge where a plurality of chain ring teeth emanate, and a plurality of ramps disposed about the inner surface, wherein at least one of the plurality of ramps includes a lifting surface for initiating lift of a bicycle chain without assistance from the plurality of chain ring teeth. The lifting surface extends radially along the inner surface toward the outer edge, and the at least one ramp has a first end proximate the inner edge and a second end proximate the outer edge. The second end of the at least one lifting surface terminates before reaching the bottom of a trough positioned between two or more of the plurality of chain ring teeth.
