    摘要: Allowing a tester of a telephonic device to issue call control commands to a call control server using an intuitive set of commands and using both data lines for data call control commands, and voice lines for touch tone or “DTMF” call control commands. The user may initiate a call control command by either entering the call control command in a command line of a program executed at a telephonic device, or by crafting a function call using an Application Program Interface (API) that allows for more intuitive function calls that are more descriptive of the call control command. During execution, the more descriptive user-entered command or function call is converted into a form that recognized by the call control server. The converted call control command is then transmitted to the call control server.

    摘要: After implementation of an interactive voice response (IVR) system providing voice prompts (i.e., utterances) to aid a telephone caller, it is desirable to provide call-flow verification to validate system accuracy, particularly under high-volume or saturation calling conditions. An IVR system has a call-flow verification (CFV) mode which can be activated for this purpose. In the CFV mode, the IVR system provides prompt signals which include coded signals representing the content of utterances. An automated call generator (ACG) unit places simulated user calls to the IVR system. The content of utterances is represented by coded signals included in prompt signals sent by the IVR system during the course of the simulated call and stored by the ACG unit. Verification can be applied for all possible paths an application might take (to check all possible go-right and error paths). By comparing content of received utterances represented by such coded signals with previously stored data representative of correct utterances, discrepancies are identified for call-flow verification. DTMF signals can be used to represent characters of an utterance in a coded format.

A communication associated with identification information including a test indicator such as a test calling line number is received. The processing of the communication is paused while instructions are obtained regarding an advanced service. In obtaining instructions, the test indicator is recognized. In response to the recognition, test information is obtained regarding the advanced service. The test information is associated with the communication and may be substituted for the test indicator in the identification information. After association, the processing of the communication is resumed so that the advanced service is applied to the communication. In particular, the communication is routed with the test information through the telecommunications system. The test information may be displayed on a calling line ID unit or otherwise obtained at a terminating unit.

For example, when only the calling party hears a voice from the called party, and the called party may not hear any voice, the time switch connects the output of the calling party to the input of the calling party itself to determine whether or not the calling party can hear their own voice. If the calling party can hear their voice, it will be determined that the call failure does not originate from the calling party. The time switch then connects the output of the called party to the input of the called party itself to determine whether or not the called party can hear their own voice. If the called party can not hear their voice, it will be determined that the call failure originated from the called party.

    摘要: A computer-implemented method and apparatus for servicing multiple external interfaces in a pseudo-parallel fashion which simulates multi-tasking. An application program is programmed to switch control during the servicing of multiple external units and/or time-consuming CPU steps to optimize overall application execution time. An application services each of these external interface units through calls to respective program modules. Relatively long program modules contain calls to transfer system control to shorter program modules which await servicing. These calls are strategically inserted in a long program module after one or more partial logic of units of work have been completed. At the time of each call, a check is first made to determine whether servicing of another external interface unit with a short program module is required. If servicing is required, then control is transferred to execute the short program module. Switches between servicing the multiple external interfaces, such as a user-interface and a communication link, are substantially transparent to external users. Sub-second responses are provided simulating multi-tasking of the communication interface and the user-interface during execution of an application by a personal computer.
