摘要： An apparatus for converting rotational movement of a rotary member to harmonic linear motion for moving an article transfer apparatus between a first position and a second position. The apparatus provides a follower pivotally connected to the extending end of the rotary member, and a planar support plate having a slotted aperture for receiving the follower of the rotary member. A pair of opposing low friction planar guides slidingly support the support plate of the article transfer apparatus for movement in a predetermined plane. When the rotary member rotates, the follower moves along the slotted aperture of the support plate, and the support plate slides along the planar guides thus imparting linear motion to the article transfer apparatus. When the rotary member is rotated at a substantially constant rotary speed, the linear motion translated to the article transfer apparatus is best described as harmonic motion. The article transfer apparatus may provide a conveyor for transferring an article or workpiece along a predetermined path of travel. The conveyor may have its own independent power means for powering the conveyor.

摘要： A drop sling lumber sorter apparatus comprising a frame assembly including a plurality of bays for receiving pieces of sorted lumber. Each of the bays includes a rotatable drive shaft mounted to the frame assembly and a plurality of elongated, flexible, laterally spaced slings having a first end and a second end. The first end of each sling is mounted to the drive shaft. A pivoting hook and retriever assembly selectively capture and release the second end of each sling to the frame assembly. A spool assembly is mounted on the drive shaft for each sling. Each spool assembly is capable of guiding the sling onto the rotatable drive shaft. The slings are reeled onto or reeled off of the drive shaft as the drive shaft rotates. A tensioner assembly tensions the slings as they are reeled off of the drive shaft.

摘要： A system for handling cylindrical cans or the like and conveying them from filler and closure equipment to and into hydrostatic sterilizer carriers. After the cans have been filled and closed, they are conveyed upright to a receiving area. A screw assembly is periodically actuated, taking cans from the receiving area, grasping their cylindrical sidewalls and laying them down and forward into a metered can stick. This can stick is rolled laterally by a clamp-kicker assembly into the hydrostatic sterilizer carriers as they are conveyed past it. The screw assembly includes a pair of horizontally disposed screws, both rotatable downwardly and inwardly and with the axis of one spaced above that of the other. With one complete rotation of the screws a can held therebetween on its cylindrical sidewalls is positively laid forward onto its side. With an adequate supply of cans in the receiving area, the controlled rotation of the screws determines how many cans are laid forward to thereby form the can stick. Also, if a sensor detects that a can being conveyed to the screws has fallen down then the rotation of the screws is automatically stopped.

Through the stop that is nearer to an upper preceding bale conveyer, a wastepaper bale proceeds onto a following lower support surface is such a way that wire laps surrounding the wastepaper bale are in a horizontal position. Through a second, following stop, rotation of the bale may take place as it drops from the first bale conveyor onto the following support surface, without causing the wastepaper bale to turn or topple so far that the wire laps will again have the same direction which they had on the first bale conveyor. This assures that in a following tie wire removal station, for example, the laps of the tie wires will always have the same alignment irrespective of the position of the wastepaper bales on the first conveyer belt.
