Abstract:
A communication system in which data stored in a memory card mounted in a host apparatus, such as a digital camera, can be sent to an external apparatus with ease without relying on operations carried out on the host apparatus. The memory card includes a communication control section controllable by the external apparatus so that data can be read out from a memory of the memory card and sent to the external apparatus in accordance with control executed by the external apparatus. Even if the host apparatus is a mobile apparatus such as a digital camera, picture data stored by the digital camera in the memory card can be sent to the external apparatus by wireless communication without the need to change the digital camera serving as the mobile apparatus specially by, for example, installing driver software. That is to say, the memory card can be applied to contemporary digital cameras.
Abstract:
In an image display device configured to be connected to a network, a method of communicating over the network with a remote device on the network is disclosed. The method includes receiving a message sent to a multicast address on the network by the remote device, wherein the message includes an instruction to the image display device to perform a function; and performing the function instructed by the message.
Abstract:
There is provided system and method for communication over a network, which includes a first gateway and a second gateway capable of communicating with each other using a packet protocol. Each gateway is capable of communicating with a local communication device, such as a modem device, over a telephone line. In modem relay mode, each gateway is capable of detecting V.8bis signals from the communication devices, blocking such V.8bis signals, and switching to modem relay mode in response to such detection. In modem pass through mode, each gateway is capable of detecting V.8bis signals from the communication devices and switching to modem pass through mode in response to such detection.
Abstract:
The facsimile modem of the present invention comprises a computer interface, a switching unit, and a memory unit. The objective of the present invention is this line-switching facsimile modem that can transmit a data demanding the security, high-speed, and low-cost delivery, by prioritizing the usage of the leased line in transmitting this data. The line-switching facsimile modem of the present invention is connected to a facsimile machine and has a function to transmit data via the public switched telephone network. When transmitting a facsimile data from the facsimile machine, the switching unit checks whether a leased line address is registered in the memory unit or not, and if the leased line address is found registered, the switching unit switches the connection from the public switched telephone network line to the leased line, and then the facsimile data is transmitted using the computer interface via the leased line.
Abstract:
A system and method are disclosed for capturing image and/or audio data, processing the image and/or audio data, and storing the processed image and/or audio data. The system includes a portable device having a digital camera for capturing the image and/or audio data, an integrated circuit having a microprocessor for processing the image and/or audio data and a non-volatile memory for storing the processed image and/or audio data. As part of the processing operation in a preferred embodiment, the data is converted into a standard file format that is compatible and recognizable by the host platform to which the portable device may be coupled. After conversion into a standard file format, the data may either be stored in the non-volatile memory, or uploaded directly to the host platform.
Abstract:
A portable terminal apparatus includes an access portion that enables access to an information processing apparatus; an image obtaining portion that obtains an image of a character input tool, a transmitter that transmits the image of the character input tool to the information processing apparatus; a receiver that receives touched key information from the information processing apparatus, and a character identification portion that identifies a character on the basis of the touched key information received by the receiver, wherein the image obtaining portion obtains a different image of the character input tool upon each change to a screen appearance of the character input tool or upon each receipt of the touched key information and the transmitter transmits the different image of the character input tool and character information to the information processing apparatus.
Abstract:
An operation display apparatus includes: an operating unit; a display unit; a position detecting unit configured to detect a position of a predetermined portable terminal; a free region detecting unit configured to detect a free region on a display screen of at least one of the display unit and the portable terminal; and an operation control unit configured to display an image of the operating unit in the free region when the position of the portable terminal detected by the position detecting unit is in front of a front side of the operating unit, and accept an operation performed on the image, as an operation received by the operating unit, the free region being detected by the free region detecting unit.
Abstract:
A relay device that relays communication between an MFP and a server reads, upon accepting a request from the MFP to the server, a response to a previous one of this request from the server which has been cached in a memory. Then, the relay device transmits the response read from the memory to the MFP as a formal response prior to transmitting this request to the server and obtaining a response.
Abstract:
In a facsimile system including a gateway apparatus and a transmission-side facsimile apparatus capable of performing facsimile communication via the gateway apparatus, the transmission-side facsimile apparatus codes image data, and packetizes the coded image data so that one line is included in one packet, and transmits the packetized image data to the gateway apparatus. The gateway apparatus receives a packet transmitted from the transmission-side facsimile apparatus, inserts predetermined data into image data included in the received packet, and transmits the image data into which the predetermined data has been inserted, to a receiving-side facsimile apparatus.
Abstract:
