There is at least one stabilizing bar coupled to a first end of these arms, and a coupling connection at the second end of these arms wherein this coupling connection is for coupling to a towed watercraft. To control the longitudinal expansion and contraction of this towing device, a plurality of hinge connections are disposed in a coupling connection between these arms in a region where these arms are coupled to each other. These arms are coupled together in a rotatable manner such as in a scissor like connection. At least one of these hinge connections also connect at a center connection point between at least two of these arms. Thus, these arms rotate around these hinge connections to form a towing device that is adjustable in length wherein these arms are collapsible into a storage platform as well.

A transportable storage container assembly for transport by a tow vehicle. The assembly includes a trailer having a center rail with a two-point trailer hitch at the front end and a pivotable single wheel at the rear end. The trailer has a first cross channel adjacent the front end of the rail and a second cross channel adjacent the rear end of the rail. A storage container mounted on the trailer includes bottom support skids at each end that seat in the cross channels and are secured in the channels by casters that are attached to the skids through mounting holes in the cross channels. There is a jack on the bottom of the trailer rail adjacent the midpoint to facilitate the raising of the trailer for attachment to, and disattachment from, the tow vehicle trailer hitch.

A tow bar assembly adapted to extend between a towing vehicle and a towed vehicle. A frame is provided which includes a bearing element secured to the front end of the frame and a mounting element secured to the rear end of the frame. The mounting element is adapted to be selectively connected to the receiver hitch of a towing vehicle, while the bearing element extends rearward toward the towed vehicle in one embodiment. A pair of elongated, telescopic swing arms are pivotally secured to the bearing element and extend to the towed vehicle for attachment thereto. The bearing element further includes a yoke rotatable about a ball joint having at least two degrees of freedom which allows for movement of the swing arms in both vertical and horizontal planes. The swing arms further include pivot flanges that are pivotally secured to the swing arms at an end nearest the towed vehicle. A pair of tow vehicle mounting brackets extend from the frame of the towed vehicle vertically upward, such that when not in use, the tow bar assembly may be collapsed and securely stored adjacent the rear bumper of the towing vehicle. Alternate embodiments include fifth wheel and fixed arm tow bar assemblies.

A tow vehicle (3) and trailer vehicle (5) are connected by a four-bar hitch which has one arm (1) aligned longitudinally with the central longitudinal axes (12,13) of the vehicles, and a steering arm (6) which is laterally spaced from the main arm. Pivots, (7,8) at the front and rear ends of the steering arm are forwardly offset with respect to the corresponding pivots (2,4') of the main arm. The length of the main arm is no greater then about 1.5 times the length of the steering arm. The rear pivot (8) of the steering arm is offset laterally and forwardly from the rear pivot (4') of the main arm, so that the lateral offset is greater than the forward offset. An embodiment is disclosed wherein the forward pivot on the steering arm is laterally shiftable toward the forward pivot on the main arm to reduce the offtracking of the trailer for certain maneuvering and driving situations. In one embodiment, an upper arm (30) is disposed above and in forwardly convergent relation with respect to the main arm (1) in order to provide a vertical four-bar linkage which allows the tow vehicle to pitch naturally.

A trailer hitch structure for coupling a double caster-type wheel trailer to a tow vehicle having a conventional hitch bar fixed thereto and projecting rearwardly thereof. There is provided a rigid vehicle connector having a front portion fixedly connectable to the hitch bar. The front portion connects to a transversely extending rear portion which extends generally parallel to the vehicle bumper. This rear portion mounts adjustable bumper elements adjacent the opposite ends thereof, which bumper elements adjust for snug engagement with the vehicle bumper. A crossbar is positioned adjacent but slightly rearwardly from the rear portion and is coupled thereto through a swivel structure which defines a horizontal roll axis which extends in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. The crossbar mounts a pair of hitch balls adjacent the opposite ends thereof. The trailer has a tongue structure provided with a pair of sidewardly spaced couplers for releasable engagement with the hitch balls.

The invention relates to a device for damping pendulum oscillations of a trailer hitched to a coupling of a motor vehicle. For this purpose, the coupling at the rear of the motor vehicle is horizontally adjustable at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle, and damping means serve for adjusting the coupling, in proportion to the deflection of the trailer drawbar, from a position lying on the longitudinal axis of the vehicle in the direction of the side of the motor vehicle into which the trailer is swerving.Transverse movements of the coupling relatively to the superstructure of the motor vehicle cause a continuous shifting in the instantaneous fulcrum or center of rotation of the trailer drawbar forwardly along the longitudinal vehicle axis, whereby interfering forces impairing the driving direction of the trailer are counteracted and driving stability is ensured.

A main frame is provided including front and rear end portions and the front end portion includes a pair of laterally spaced apart hitch structures for releasable hitching to a pair of complementary hitch portions carried by the rear of an associated towing vehicle. The rear end portion of the frame includes a pair of laterally spaced apart dependingly supported caster wheel assemblies which are each mounted from the frame for full 360.degree. angular displacement relative to the frame about an upstanding axis. Connecting structure interconnects the caster wheel assemblies together for equal and simultaneous angular displacement relative to the frame and friction brake structure is operatively connected between the frame and at least one of the caster wheel assemblies frictionally resisting angular displacement thereof relative to the frame. The friction brake structure is adjustable and the laterally spaced apart hitch structures are carried by a pair of opposite side forwardly projecting tongue portions each pivotally supported from the main frame of the trailer for limited angular displacement about a horizontal transverse axis. Further, spring structure is operatively connected between the frame and each tongue portion yieldingly biasing the forward end thereof downwardly toward its lower limit position relative to the frame.
