    摘要: A method and apparatus for programming a welding-type system is disclosed. They include storing at least one welding program in a pda and connecting the pda to the welding-type system. Then, the at least one welding program is downloaded to (or a program is uploaded from) the welding-type system. The controller includes a memory and a memory input is connected to the memory and connectable to a pda. The program may be delivered to the pda by email. The connection may be wired, such as RS232), or wireless, such as IR or RF. The program is edited in one embodiment. Also, the connection may be wireless and to a remote memory (such as on a desktop or laptop).

    摘要: A gripping device for a set of pinch rollers used in a wire feeder that supplies a welding operation with a consumable welding wire. The welding wire passes between the pinch rollers whereby the pinch rollers engage the wire with a gripping force and incrementally rotate to control the outflow of the wire to the welding operation. The gripping device has a first member which is displaceable relative to a second member and a spring mechanism extending between the first and second members which has at least a first and a second spring modulus. The spring mechanism produces the gripping force as the first and the second members are displaced toward one another. The gripper urges one roller of the set of pinch rollers toward the other roller of the set to engage the wire and to apply the gripping force. By including a spring with a first and second spring modulus, the gripper can apply a first range of gripping forces with the force produced by the first spring modulus and a second range of gripping forces with the force produced by the second spring modulus.

The welding gun power pin includes a generally cylindrical pin body, and insertion stop member, and a withdrawal stop member which defines a withdrawal stop member length dimension. A channel extends into the outer circumferential surface of the pin body, generally separates the pin body from the withdrawal stop member, and is adapted and configured to accept a generally rigid projection member therein, whereby to mechanically resist withdrawal of the welding gun power pin from the remainder of the welding system. The channel defines a channel width dimension which has a magnitude that is less than the magnitude of the withdrawal stop member length dimension.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for providing welding-type power include a wire feeder that provides wire to an arc and a power supply that provides power to the arc. A reversible wire feed motor moves the wire to and away from the arc. A controller controls the reversible wire feeder motor to reverse at least once per process cycle, and/or controls the power source to provide a desired mean arc current, and/or controls the reversible motor in response to short detection and short clearing, and/or controls the reversal frequency in response to pool oscillation frequency. A wire feed motor output is slaved to an average of the reversible motor output. The controller may include various control modules, such as a mean arc current control module, and/or a short detection feedback circuit. The reversible motor is a stepper motor, that incrementally turns in a series of steps having a given angle in another embodiment. The controller includes a step size output and the given angle is varied in response to the step size output.

A wire feeder including a controller capable of accepting a user input that includes desired mode, desired current output and desired voltage output. The controller then causes the welding-type system to operate according to the user input. The controller is further enabled to automatically adjust a speed of the wire feeder according to the user input mode and the desired current output or the desired voltage output.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for welding that includes a power source and a wire feeder is disclosed. One or more sensors sense one or more welding conditions before the weld is initiated. A set up circuit is coupled to sensor, the power source, and the wire feeder. The set up circuit automatically sets up the welding machine in response to what the sensor senses. The sensor may be a wire sensor, including a diameter sensor and a material sensor, a gas sensor (if a source of gas is included) such as a cyclic voltametry gas microsensor, a workpiece thickness sensor such as a strain gauge or displacement sensor. Alternatively the sensor includes a bar code reader that reads a code on, for example, the spool of wire, an analog proximity detector, a plurality of proximity detectors, and a displacement sensor.

    摘要: A gripping device is disclosed for a set of pinch rollers used in a wire feeder that supplies a welding operation with a consumable welding wire. The controller is a state-based controller, and/or a deterministic control module, connected to the controller output. The state-based control module includes, in an embodiment, software instructions and a digital processor, and/or a state transition table stored in a spreadsheet data base. The controller is responsive to a feedback circuit. One or more welding peripherals, such as a wire feeder or robot, are connected to the controller. The current state may be represented by data in a first line of a spreadsheet and a state-ending event by a second, perpendicular, line of a spreadsheet. The subsequent state is determined by the intersection of the first and second lines in another embodiment.
