    摘要: The described invention takes as its basis the problem of developing an overtemperature shut-off valve which guarantees a reproducible gas-tight seal. The problem is solved in that the metal closure body (11) has a spherical shape at least in its sealing area and its diameter is selected so as to form a slight tight fit with the diameter of a valve seat which is in the form of a bore (21) shaped in the housing (1) of the valve when the valve is closed. A second bore (20) extends in the direction of the first bore (21) is arranged upstream thereof. A guide (19) that tapers outwardly in the direction of the closure body (11) when it is in its open position is located between the closure body and the second bore (20). As the temperature of the closure member increases due in part to heat transferred thereto from the housing after it moves into a closed position, the resulting thermal expansion will result in a wedging or pressfit type sealing relationship being created between the closure member, bore 21 and/or bore 20. This wedged or pressfit sealing relationship will ensure that the valve remains closed even in the event the biasing spring force is relaxed due to increased temperature or the like or the valve is subjected to severe shocks or concussions.

    摘要: A detonation arrestor for a flare line includes a cell housing having a particulate quenching medium composed of stainless steel balls. The stainless steel balls are held in place by wire mesh and steel bars. A flame front diffusor is located on either side of the cell housing so that the detonation arrestor is symmetrical may be placed in the flare line in either direction. The flame front diffusor may be a plate or a smaller cell. A deflector ring encircles the interior of the cell housing and prevents flame fronts from flashing along the edge of the cell housing.

Each lamina is comprised of a thin sheet of metal formed with a plurality of spaced parallel shallow channels of selected depth D. As the laminae are placed in the housing in parallel contiguous contact to fill the cross-section of the housing, there will be a great plurality of narrow slots of width D through which the gas will pass to the flame area. Means may be provided in the form of shallow protrusions of heighth D pressed into the metal in the flat areas of the sheet in order to insure that the spacing between sheets at all points is close to the value D.

    摘要: A flash back arrestor for use in gas supply lines. The arrestor includes an elongated passageway through which the gases flow in one direction and through which the flash back must pass in the reverse direction. A pressure-actuated valve at the inlet end of the passageway is actuated by pressures from the flash back at the discharge end of the passageway. The valve consists of a valve member in the form of a piston freely movable under the influence of flash back pressures against a valve seat at the inlet to the passageway. The valve member carries a locking arrangement which moves under the influence of the flash back to latch the valve member with a biasing force to the closed position after a flash back occurs. Additionally, a second valve is provided actuated by the flash back to vent the flash back to the atmosphere. A separate flow actuated check valve prevents backflow to the gas supply tank in the event the flow direction should reverse, not caused by a flash back.
