    Abstract: Provided is an autonomous lawn mower including: a movable machine body being movable through unmanned driving with moving devices; at least one lawn mowing work unit mounted on the movable machine body; and a machine body cover that covers an upper surface and a peripheral surface of the movable machine body. The at least one lawn mowing work unit includes: a cutting blade; a prime mover configured to drive the cutting blade; at least one ground-contact member, which is located within an area (WB) between the moving devices in a front-and-rear direction, and is configured to prevent contact of the cutting blade with a ground surface; and an adjustment mechanism configured to allow the lawn mowing work unit to be moved upward and downward with respect to the movable machine body. The ground-contact member and the cutting blade are located inside the machine body cover.

    Abstract: Mowing systems include a mower and a remote control unit such as a handheld unit, between which is provided 1- or 2-way communications. Components and features are included in the mower, the remote control unit, or both to enhance the safety, functionality, or user experience of the system's user/operator. Aspects of the invention relate to: an enable switch on the remote control unit that requires activation within a specified time before activating a drive system or PTO unit; sharing diagnostic information between the mower and remote control unit and emitting user-detectable warnings in response to the shared information; reducing a danger level of the system when a proximity between the mower and the remote control unit is too small; and using inclinometers in the mower and the remote control unit to control operation of the mower based on tilt angles of both the mower and the remote control unit.

    Abstract: A system comprises a mobile machine including a first portion and a second portion, a positioning receiver coupled with the first portion of the mobile machine, a sensor for determining a position of the first portion of the mobile machine relative to the second portion of the mobile machine, and one or more computing devices. The one or more computing devices are configured to use information from the positioning receiver to determine a geographic location of the positioning receiver, use information from the sensor to determine a position of the first portion of the mobile machine relative to the second portion of the mobile machine, and adjust a navigation point offset according to the position of the first portion of the mobile machine relative to the second portion of the mobile machine, the navigation point offset being a difference in location between the positioning receiver and a navigation point.

    Abstract: A mowing apparatus created by connecting a powered walk-behind mower to the side of a small tractor using a rigid articulated frame. The length of the frame provides the extended reach into the slope, allowing the tractor to stay on the flat terrain while mowing the adjacent steep slopes. The connection between the tractor and the mower is rigid in the horizontal directions, allowing the fine control of the mower position during the tractor movement both forward and in reverse, straight and turning, and articulated in the vertical direction, allowing the mower to follow the shape of the slope and preventing the transmission of the excessive side forces to the tractor, avoiding the risk of the tractor overturning. The apparatus allows the tractor and the mower to be quickly disconnected and used separately for their original purposes.
