Abstract:
An after-firing safety device in a projectile with percussion fuze includes a spiral spring set having at least three springs wound up in series with respectively opposite directions. The spring set, maintained under tension by a cage, starts to uncoil as soon as the cage slides off the spiral spring set on account of the acceleration of the projectile during firing. The time elapsing until a central aperture has been entirely vacated depends on the number of springs, the spring lengh, the spring tension, and the friction characteristic. The after-firing safety device is equally well suited for spinning projectiles as well as nonspinning projectiles.
Abstract:
Ignition of a separating charge in a cavity between a flash-conducting tube and a casing of a propellant charge igniter extending below a combustible tube is brought about by the propellant gases passing through priming bores from the outside of the propellant charge igniter to be used in a breech of a cannon or like weapon. This requires a seal acting in the manner of a valve being positioned at the flash-conducting tube head and being urged towards the casing. An especially suitable sealing means in a sealing ring located in an annular groove having a cross-section shape similar to a trapezoid. In case, for example, on account of low temperatures, the pressure buildup of the propellant gases occurs more gradually, the separation of the combustible tube from the bottom piece is thereby also automatically initiated at a later point in time. Thereby, flashback in the breech zone of the cannon is avoided and ballistics are improved.
Abstract:
A secondary coil is provided for use in inductive igniters for the igniting of propellant charge powder. In these igniters, two coil systems cooperate with each other in accordance with the transformer system, wherein the secondary coil is to be as small as possible and is to form a compact unit with the igniter. This is accomplished by arranging the windings of the secondary coil in the form of flat sandwich coils on a support material in an insulated fashion so that upon folding of the support material, the individual flat coils are placed in mutual opposition so that they form a cylinder coil. Furthermore, these flat coils are connected with each other by way of their outermost and innermost windings, the transition from the outermost windings being located at the crease and the innermost windings being joined together so that the flat coils are disposed almost in congruence on the front side as well as on the rear side, and the transition of the innermost coils being effected by a metallized path extending through the carrier material.

A piezoelectric fuze, especially for projectiles, having a piezoelectric element which converts the mechanical shockwave produced upon impact on a target into an output signal for igniting a detonator. A control circuit is provided for generating an output signal and a threshold switching circuit is provided for receiving the outputs of the control circuit and the piezoelectric element as a superimposed signal for establishing a connection between a power source and a detonator of the fuze when the threshold value of the threshold circuit is exceeded.
