    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first user equipment (UE) may receive and decode a network-coded message over a sidelink channel from a second UE, the network-coded message encoded using a rateless encoding algorithm. The first UE may report redundancy feedback information to the second UE for the network-coded message. Based on the feedback information, the second UE may adjust an amount of redundancy used to encode future messages to the first UE that are encoded using the rateless encoding algorithm.

    Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for techniques for beam failure detection and recovery. A UE may support autonomous determination of a beam failure timer for a beam failure procedure, such as a beam failure detection (BFD) timer for a BFD procedure or a beam failure recovery (BFR) timer for a BFR procedure. For example, a network entity may transmit reference signals to the UE that are associated with the beam failure procedure. For instance, the UE may measure the reference signals as part of a BFD procedure or may initiate a BFR procedure in response to receiving the reference signals. The UE may determine a timer value for the beam failure timer using, for example, a machine learning (ML) model or a mapping and may perform the beam failure procedure in accordance with the UE-determined beam failure timer.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, a transmitting device may support receiver-specific network coding redundancy techniques. For example, a transmitting device may select a receiver-specific redundancy configuration for transmission to a particular receiver based on a quality of a link between the transmitting device and the receiving device. The transmitting device may select or calculate a user-specific redundancy for the link based on a received packet loss probability report, or may select the preferred redundancy configuration as indicated in a request received from the receiving device, or may network encode and transmit one or more initial transmissions according to a default redundancy configuration and increment or decrement the default redundancy based on feedback from the receiving device.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive control signaling including a set of parameters. The set of parameters may include one or more thresholds associated with initiating aperiodic beam failure detection (BFD) reference signals (RSs). The UE may receive a set of periodic BFD-RSs. In some examples, the UE or the base station may determine that a triggering threshold is satisfied. In some cases, the UE may determine that the set of periodic BFD-RSs satisfies a consecutive beam failure indication (BFI) threshold, a cumulative BFI threshold, or the like. In some cases, a base station may determine that the set of periodic BFD-RSs satisfies a channel quality threshold. The UE may receive a set of one or more aperiodic BFD-RSs based on whether the triggering threshold is satisfied.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station may identify one or more user equipments (UEs) subscribed to receive broadcast transmissions. The base station may determine a first subset of the UEs is to receive broadcast transmissions via a direct link and a second subset of the UEs is to receive the packets from the broadcast transmission via a sidelink connection based on selection criteria. The base station may transmit an indication that the broadcast transmissions are to be received via either the direct link or sidelink connection to at least one of the first subset of UEs or the second subset of UEs. The base station may transmit the broadcast transmissions to the first subset of UEs via direct links, and the first subset of UEs may transmit the broadcast transmissions to one or more other UEs via sidelink connections.

    Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatuses for supporting network transmissions using unicast sidelink communications. A base station (BS) may transmit a set of encoded packets to a number of user equipment (UEs) and receive feedback messages from the UEs that indicate sets of decoded packets. Based on the feedback messages, the BS may transmit an updated set of encoded packets based on a difference between the set of encoded packets and the union of decoded packets. The BS may transmit an instruction to a first UE to transmit a unicast sidelink communication to a second UE that includes a set of missed packets that includes one or more decoded packets that were decoded by the first UE but were not decoded by the second UE. The first UE may transmit the unicast sidelink communication to the second UE.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for updating timing advance values for deactivated cells are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit, to a first cell that is deactivated, a random access message for a timing advance probing procedure. The UE may transmit the random access message to the first cell. In some examples, the UE may receive, from a second cell, an activation command that activates the first cell and an indication of a timing advance value for the first cell generated based on the random access message. In other examples, the UE may monitor for a random access response (RAR) message from the first cell, the RAR message including an activation command that activates the first cell and an indication of a timing advance value generated based on the random access message. The UE may communicate with the first cell based on the activation command and the timing advance value.
