Abstract: A method for wireless communication at a first user equipment (UE) and related apparatus are provided. In the method, the first UE obtains global navigation satellite system (GNSS) assistance data for a sidelink positioning session with one or more second UEs via a sidelink message, and calculates, based on the GNSS assistance data for the sidelink positioning session, the position of at least one of the first UE or the one or more second UEs. The first UE further outputs an indication indicative of the calculated position of at least one of the first UE or the one or more second UEs. The method provides a signaling mechanism to support communicating positioning data over a sidelink connection of a UE. It enhances positioning accuracy for UEs operating on sidelink connections and improves the efficiency of wireless communication.

Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for supporting positioning. In an aspect, a positioning reference unit (PRU) sends and a location server receives an association request for the PRU. The location server authenticates the PRU and sends to the PRU an association accept indicating an acceptance of association and conditions for performing another association with the location server if the PRU is authenticated, or indicates a rejection of the association if the PRU is not authenticated. The association accept may include an identifier for the location server for the PRU for updating the association with the location server and/or identifiers for one or more additional location servers with which the PRU is to perform separate association. The location server may send to the PRU a disassociation request indicating the PRU is no longer associated and optionally an identifier for another location server with which the PRU should associate.

REDUCING OVERHEAD OF POSITIONING STATE INFORMATION (PSI) FOR LOWER LAYER TRANSMISSION

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) generates a positioning state information (PSI) report that is transmitted to a network entity in a lower layer channel container, e.g., in the Physical channel or Medium Access Control channel, to reduce latency. The PSI report may be generated based on a plurality of PSI report elements determined from positioning measurements performed by the UE. Each PSI report element includes information related to positioning measurements performed by the UE. One or more of the PSI report elements may be compressed based on a compression configuration, in order to reduce overhead. If the size of the PSI report elements, after one or more PSI report elements are compressed, is larger than the lower layer channel container, one or more of the PSI reports may be omitted from the PSI report. A network entity may receive and process the PSI report based on the compression configuration.

Abstract: Techniques are discussed herein for providing on-demand positioning reference signals (PRS) to user equipment (UE). An example method for determining a location of a user equipment according to the disclosure includes receiving a first assistance data associated with a first positioning reference signal configuration, transmitting a request to modify one or more parameters of the first positioning reference signal configuration, receiving a second assistance data associated with a second positioning reference signal configuration, wherein the second positioning reference signal configuration is based at least in part on the request to modify the one or more parameters of the first positioning reference signal configuration, obtaining measurements from one or more positioning reference signals based at least in part on the second assistance data, and determining the location based at least on part on measurements obtained from the one or more positioning reference signals.
