Abstract:
Methods, systems, and apparatuses are described for providing device(s) with additional processing time to process a packet received wirelessly while still meeting the legacy SIFS time constraint. The additional processing time may be achieved by adding, by a device transmitting the packet, padding and/or a packet extension to the last symbol of the packet. The additional processing time provided to the device(s) advantageously reduces the amount of extra hardware that would normally be added to meet the SIFS time constraint. The amount of padding and/or packet extension to be added to the last symbol is balanced to minimize the complexity of the device(s) against the reduction in system efficiency incurred by the device(s).
Abstract:
Short training field (STF) for use within single user, multiple user, multiple access, and/or MIMO wireless communications. An STF design as is made such that the power associated with the tone indices at the edges of the STF design is relatively less than the power associated with the tone indices more centrally located within the STF design. Also, when multiple respective operational modes are supported (e.g., 1 MHz and 2 MHz), the respective STF designs corresponding to those respective operational modes have a great deal of similarity. For example, the respective STF designs for different respective operational modes may have certain common STF tone indices among those respective STF designs.
Abstract:
A wireless communication device (alternatively, device) includes a processing circuitry configured to support communications with other wireless communication device(s) and to generate and process signals for such communications. In some examples, the device includes a communication interface and a processing circuitry, among other possible circuitries, components, elements, etc. to support communications with other wireless communication device(s) and to generate and process signals for such communications. A device receives a request to send (RTS) from another device and replies with a clear to send (CTS) when the RTS includes a non-zero-valued network allocation vector (NAV) if one or more conditions make such a response permissible. The device processes other parameter(s) associated with other communications between other devices to determine if a CTS response is permissible even during the other communications between the other devices. If comparison of the other parameter(s) is/are favorably to certain condition(s), the device transmits the CTS.
Abstract:
Multi-channel support within single user, multiple user, multiple access, and/or MIMO wireless communications. A processor of the communication device is implemented to process a signal to generate processed signals. Also, the communication device includes multiple inverse discrete fast Fourier transform (IDFT) processors respectively to process the processed signals to generate a signal streams respectively across channels (e.g., a first of the IDFT processors is implemented to process a first processed signal to generate a first signal stream based on a fast Fourier transform (FFT) channelization across a first number of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) tones, and a second of the IDFT processors is implemented to process a second processed signal to generate a second signal stream based on the FFT channelization across a second number of OFDM tones). The communication device also includes communication interface(s) to transmit the signal streams to at least one additional communication device.

A wireless communication device (alternatively, device) includes a processor configured to support communications with other wireless communication device(s) and to generate and process signals for such communications. In some examples, the device includes a communication interface and a processor, among other possible circuitries, components, elements, etc. to support communications with other wireless communication device(s) and to generate and process signals for such communications. The device is configured to generate OFDM/A packet(s) that include a signal field (SIG) and a copy of that SIG (e.g., a repeat of the SIG, a repetition of the SIG, a duplicate of the SIG, etc.). In some examples, the copy of the SIG adjacently follows the SIG. Also, in some examples of a OFDM/A packet, the SIG and its copy are based on one communication protocol, standard, and/or recommended practice, and another field therein is based on another communication protocol, standard, and/or recommended practice.
Abstract:
A wireless communication device (‘device’) is configured to generate an OFDM/A packet that includes at least one OFDM/A symbol that includes at least one SIG having SIG information modulated on only even (or odd) sub-carriers and does not include any information modulated on odd (or even) sub-carriers of a set of OFDM/A sub-carriers. The set of OFDM/A sub-carriers may be all or less than all of available sub-carriers. The device may generate the packet to include a preamble and a payload such that the payload, which may be composed of at least one additional OFDM/A symbol, includes data modulated on some or all of the sub-carriers of the set of OFDM/A sub-carriers. The device can modulate and transmit SIG information and data differently within the preamble and the payload (e.g., with higher ordered modulation or MCS for the data and less power per sub-carrier than for the preamble).

In some examples, the device includes a communication interface and a processing circuitry, among other possible circuitries, components, elements, etc. to support communications with other wireless communication device(s) and to generate and process signals for such communications. A device generates and transmits a request to send (RTS) to group (RTG) frame to other devices. In response to the RTG frame, the device receives clear to send (CTS)(s) from one or more of the other devices and generates and transmits an orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) data frame to those one or more of the other devices based thereon. The RTG frame can include different RTSs transmitted via different channels, sub-channels, sub-carriers, etc. to the different other devices.

Abstract:
A wireless communication device is configured to perform clear channel assessment (CCA) using one or more CCA levels that are selected based on various criteria. The device receives or detects one or more packets on the communication medium, and the device then processes those one or more packets to determine status of one or more channels within one or more frequency bands using the one or more CCA levels. These CCA levels may be selected based on one or more parameters, and different CCA levels may be used at different times, for different channels, etc. Also, different CCA levels may be used to determine the status of different channels, different portions of the frequency spectrum, etc. When at least one channel is determined as being clear and available for usage, the device is configured to support communications with one or more other devices via one or more channels.
