Abstract:
Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for managing near field communications during a low power management mode of an electronic device are provided that may make credentials of a near field communication (“NFC”) component appropriately secure and appropriately accessible white also limiting the power consumption of the NFC component and of other components of the electronic device.
Abstract:
This document describes techniques for synchronizing rendering of multi-channel audio output. First audio data corresponding to a first audio channel and second audio data corresponding to a second audio channel may be received. The first and second audio data may be configured for simultaneous rendering. A transmission schedule for wirelessly transmitting audio data to each of first and second audio rendering devices may be configured, according to which the first audio data may be scheduled for transmission to the first audio rendering device after the second audio data is scheduled for transmission to the second audio rendering device by a first length of time. An indication may be wirelessly transmitted to the second audio rendering device to delay rendering audio data by the first length of time. The first and second audio data may be wirelessly transmitted to the first and second audio rendering devices according to the transmission schedule.
Abstract:
A system and method for peer-to-peer communications is disclosed. A first wireless device receives a message from a second wireless device identifying communication requirements of a point-to-point communication involving the second wireless device. The first wireless device determines whether the second wireless device's communication requirements can be satisfied based on communication resources already committed for other communications. When the communication requirements of the second wireless device can be satisfied, the first wireless device generates a time sharing schedule to be used by the first and second wireless devices based on the already-committed communication requirements and the second device's communication requirements. The time sharing schedule may include a first portion for broadcast communication among a group of devices to which the first and second wireless devices belong, and a second portion for the point-to-point communications of the second wireless devices.
Abstract:
An electronic device is described. When this electronic device receives an advertising packet containing an address from another electronic device, the electronic device determines if a connection has already been established with the other electronic device using another address. If so, instead of establishing another connection with the other electronic device using the address, the electronic device continues to use the connection with the other electronic device using the other address. In this way, the electronic device may avoid duplicate connections with the other electronic device, which can occur in communication protocols in which encoded information in advertising frames that specifies an address of the other electronic device is periodically changed.

Abstract:
To facilitate conducting a secure transaction via wireless communication between a portable electronic device (such as a smartphone) and another electronic device (such as a point-of-sale terminal), the portable electronic device may, after a final command is received from the other electronic device, determine a unique transaction identifier for the secure transaction. In particular, the final command may be specific to an applet, stored in a secure element in the portable electronic device, which conducts the secure transaction. The secure element may generate the unique transaction identifier based on financial-account information associated with the applet, which is communicated to the other electronic device. Next, the secure element may provide, to a processor in the portable electronic device, an end message for the secure transaction with the unique transaction identifier.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for managing credentials are provided. In one example embodiment, an electronic device may include a secure element with a security domain element stored on the secure element. The electronic device may also include a processor component that may be configured to, inter alia, permanently terminate the functionality of the security domain element, after the functionality has been permanently terminated, communicatively couple the electronic device to a trusted service manager, and transmit data to the communicatively coupled trusted service manager that may be usable by the trusted service manager to determine that the functionality has been permanently terminated. Additional embodiments are also provided.
Abstract:
Techniques for automatically configuring and controlling a digital media device are described. A digital media device can be configured or controlled by a mobile device, e.g., a smart mobile phone. When the digital media device is being configured, the digital media device can broadcast a signal, indicating that the digital media device is requesting configuration information from a mobile device. A mobile device located in proximity of the digital media device, upon detecting the signal, can perform various security checks to determine that the request is legitimate, and then open a communication channel with the digital media device. The mobile device can provide user preferences of the mobile device, as well as credentials for accessing and downloading remote content, to the digital media device through the communication channel. Upon receiving the configuration information, the digital media device can use parameters in the configuration information as its settings.
Abstract:
A method for detecting the proximity of a signal source using wireless systems is contemplated in which a wireless mobile device wirelessly receives packets from a signal source and determines a received signal strength for each packet. The wireless mobile device may store information based upon the received signal strength for each packet, and calculate from the information stored for all the packets, a current path loss value corresponding to a current distance from the wireless mobile device to the signal source. The wireless mobile device may then determine whether the current distance is sufficient to be an enabling condition such as tap, for example, for a data transfer or a transaction between the wireless mobile device and the signal source.
Abstract:
A portable computing device can be used to locate a vehicle in a parking structure. In particular, the portable computing device can communicate with a parking system that manages the parking structure and/or with a vehicle in order to locate the vehicle. Communications between the portable computing device, parking system and vehicle can be based on one or more wireless connections, such as Bluetooth and/or Bluetooth LE connections.
