    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for low latency communications within a wireless communications system. An eNB and/or a UE may be configured to operate within the wireless communications system and may send triggers to initiate communications using a dedicated resource in a wireless communications network that supports transmissions having a first subframe type and a second subframe type, the first subframe type comprising symbols of a first duration and the second subframe type comprising symbols of a second duration that is shorter than the first duration. Communications may be initiated by transmitting a trigger from the UE or eNB using the dedicated resource, and initiating communications following the trigger. The duration of time between the trigger and initiating communications can be significantly shorter than the time to initiate communications using legacy LTE communications.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which base stations and user equipment (UEs) may transmit using identified wireless resources in millimeter wave (mmW) radio frequency spectrum. A UE may receive an uplink grant from a base station that indicates uplink resources for transmission of uplink data from the UE to the base station in a shared mmW radio frequency spectrum band. An indication of a duration of a listen-before-talk (LBT) procedure may be provided in or with the uplink grant. The UE may perform, responsive to receiving the uplink grant, the LBT procedure to determine that the shared mmW radio frequency spectrum band is available for the uplink transmission. Based on the outcome of the LBT procedure, the UE may transmit the uplink data to the base station using the uplink resources indicated in the uplink grant.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may be configured for carrier aggregation (CA) operation. The CA configuration may include multiple component carriers (CCs), including an enhanced component carrier (eCC). One CC of the CA configuration may be employed to signal channel availability of another CC of the CA configuration. For instance, a primary CC that utilizes licensed frequency bandwidth may signal channel availability of an eCC that utilizes unlicensed frequency bandwidth. This indication of channel availability may be sent before or after a clear channel assessment (CCA). Additionally, the indication of channel availability may be employed in both self- and cross-carrier scheduling configurations.

    Abstract: Techniques for uplink transmission management in a wireless communications system are described herein. An example method may include receiving an explicit uplink grant that indicates one or more implicit uplink grants. In an aspect, the example method may include performing a first clear channel assessment (CCA) in response to the explicit uplink grant in a first time slot. In another aspect, the example method may include, if the first CCA fails, sequentially performing one or more additional CCAs respectively in one or more time slots subsequent to the first time slot in response to the one or more implicit uplink grants, and transmitting the PDU over the unlicensed or shared spectrum and in a time slot subsequent to the time slot in which one of the one or more additional CCAs succeeds.

A first wireless communication device associated with a first operator of a plurality of operators identifies a transmission opportunity in a shared frequency spectrum shared by the plurality of operators, wherein the first operator has priority among the plurality of operators for accessing the shared frequency spectrum in the transmission opportunity.     Abstract: Aspects described herein relate to configuring a discontinuous receive (DRX) mode in wireless communications. A transmission burst can be received over a communication frame, wherein the transmission burst includes a scheduling indication. A DRX OFF mode can be entered to suspend communication resources during at least an off period corresponding to a portion of a time period for the transmission burst based at least in part on the scheduling indication. A DRX ON mode can be entered to activate the communication resources during an on period corresponding to another portion of the time period subsequent to the off period defined for the transmission burst or a different time period subsequent to the time period defined for the transmission burst based at least in part on the scheduling indication.

    Abstract: Techniques for wireless communications over a shared radio frequency spectrum band, may include techniques for transmitting uplink data transmissions using allocated uplink resources. Allocated uplink resources may include an uplink channel comprising a number of allocated interlaces of resource blocks (RBs) for use by a user equipment (UE). An incoming data stream may be processed and data separated into each of the allocated interlaces of RBs for the UE. Such separation may be through demultiplexing the data stream to obtain data for the allocated interlaces of RBs. The demultiplexed data may be mapped onto associated resource elements associated with the allocated interlaces of RBs, and transmitted. Different types of uplink channels, such as a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH), physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) and/or a physical random access channel (PRACH) may be allocated to interlaces of RBs in one or more subframes of a transmitted radio frame.

    Abstract: Uplink scheduling for license assisted access (LAA) mode systems is discussed in which a base station transmits a conditional grant to served user equipments (UEs) that include a transmission configuration for uplink transmissions. The transmission configuration includes the parameters necessary for the UE to perform transmissions. Before the beginning of a uplink transmission opportunity, a base station transmits an uplink activation grant over a contention-based shared carrier to the served UEs. The uplink activation grant indicates the transmission opportunity to the UEs and may identify a subset of UEs out of the served UEs that are available for transmission. The base station first secures the channel before transmitting the uplink activation grant. Upon receipt of the uplink activation grant, the UEs determine whether they will perform uplink transmissions and, if so, transmit the uplink data according to the transmission configuration.
