摘要: A method is provided for encoding a digital video to improve perceptual quality. The method includes receiving a digital video at a video encoder, providing a perceptual quantizer function defined by PQ ( L ) = ( c 1 + c 2 L m 1 1 + c 3 L m 1 ) m 2 , wherein L is a luminance value, c1, c2, c3, and m1 are parameters with fixed values, and m2 is a parameter with a variable value, adapting the perceptual quantizer function by adjusting the value of the m2 parameter based on different luminance value ranges found within a coding level of the digital video, encoding the digital video into a bitstream using, in part, the perceptual quantizer function, transmitting the bitstream to a decoder, and transmitting the value of the m2 parameter to the decoder for each luminance value range in the coding level.

摘要: Methods and apparatus are provided for automatically transcoding media files. An exemplary method comprises obtaining an input media file having an input file format and encoded with a codec of a first type; automatically determining output media file formats for transcoding the input media file based on statistics of previously transcoded files and statistics of trending media formats for previously downloaded files; transcoding the input media file into transcoded output media files using a codec of a second type to obtain the determined output media file formats; and generating metadata for each of said plurality of transcoded output media files, wherein said metadata is stored in memory as a media catalogue separately from said one or more transcoded output media files.

In some implementations, a computer-implemented method includes obtaining a video that includes a plurality of tracks. The method further includes determining whether a partial transcoded file is available that corresponds to the video. The method further includes, if the partial transcoded file is available, obtaining a timestamp associated with the partial transcoded file, transcoding a portion of the video that begins at the timestamp associated with the partial transcoded file, and combining the partial transcoded file and the transcoded portion of the video to generate an output video. The method further includes, if the partial transcoded file is not available, transcoding the video from a start of the video using the transcoder to obtain a plurality of output tracks and combining the plurality of output tracks to obtain the output video.

摘要: Audio video synchronization and alignment or alignment of audio to some other external clock are rendered more effective or easier by treating fragment grid and frame grid as independent values, but, nevertheless, for each fragment the frame grid is aligned to the respective fragment's beginning. A compression effectiveness lost may be kept low when appropriately selecting the fragment size. On the other hand, the alignment of the frame grid with respect to the fragments' beginnings allows for an easy and fragment-synchronized way of handling the fragments in connection with, for example, parallel audio video streaming, bitrate adaptive streaming or the like.

摘要: Dynamic transcoding can be used to provide supplemental content, selected to be played during breaks in a stream of primary content, that has the same format as the primary content. It can be desirable to provide supplemental content that is personalized. This may include additional content or advertising that may be of interest or relevance to a viewer. In many instances, the supplemental content will come from a different source and thus can be in a different format. Approaches in accordance with various embodiments can take advantage of dynamic transcoding of the supplemental content to provide properly formatted supplemental content through the same stream as the primary content. A custom manifest can be provided to the media player that points to the transcoded supplemental content. At an appropriate break in the playback, the media player can use the manifest to obtain the formatted supplemental content.

摘要: According to one implementation, a media content conformation system includes a computing platform having a hardware processor and a system memory storing a software code. The hardware processor executes the software code to receive an editing file including edits to media content, the edits being based on a compressed representation of the media content and having a first data format. The software code also obtains cross-referencing data that maps a timecode data of the compressed representation of the media content to segments of an uncompressed representation of the media content, and transforms the editing file to a conformation file including the edits in a second data format based on the cross-referencing data. The conformation file enables rendering of an edited version of the media content including the edits.
