Abstract: Provided herein is a Mooring Line Restrainer capable of withstanding the whiplash from the impact of a snapped mooring line, and including a contoured Restraining Member shaped to engage and restrain snapped mooring lines and incorporating a single or multi-turn spring, mounted on a framework attached to one or more support bases. At least one of the support bases is a magnetic holding device adequate for different sizes of mooring lines, for securely and strongly fixing the Mooring Line Restrainers on the deck of a ship at appropriate positions along and on either sides of the mooring lines as per a mooring layout plan. The support bases have provisions for interlinking the plurality of adjacent or alternate Mooring Line Restrainers for forming a strong structure around the mooring lines for confining and restraining any snapped mooring lines within a narrow zone around their pre-snapped positions on the ship's deck.

Abstract: A paddle board rack is provided and which is designed to be secured to one side of a dock which extends outwardly into a body of water. The paddle board rack of this invention includes a vertically disposed mounting frame which is secured to one side of the dock. A lift frame is selectively vertically adjustably secured to the mounting frame. The lift frame includes a pair of lift arms which extend outwardly from the lower end of the lift frame. The lift arms are selectively movable from a first horizontally extending paddle board loading/unloading position to a substantially vertically disposed paddle board storage or rack position whereby the paddle board is positioned between the lift arms and the lift frame.

Abstract: A system and method for offshore loading of large cargo vessels, or motherships. The system includes a plurality of mooring stations, which may be mooring buoys, positioned in an offshore mooring field proximal an onshore cargo loading facility. A mothership is positioned within the mooring field and moored via bow and stern lines to two or more different mooring stations. Environmental data, including wind, wave, and current data, as well data regarding the physical characteristics of the mothership and movement (roll/pitch/heave) of the mothership are collected by remote transmitting and sensing devices. This data is processed by numerical analysis in a digital processor, namely a computer, to determine optimum mooring line length and tension, and mooring station locations, in order to minimize mother ship movement and create an optimum “lee” loading area adjacent the mothership. Cargo is transferred to the mothership by a trans-shipper moored to the mothership.

Abstract: An attachment flange for buoys and marine fenders. The attachment flange includes an opening therethrough that includes a substantially continuously curved interior surface which engages a line to increase the surface contact area between the opening of the attachment flange and the line. The opening of the attachment flange further includes rounded edges which reduce the abrasion and localized stress applied to the line. The curved surface with the rounded edges enables the attachment flange to receive less concentrated forces applied thereto, which may extend the life of the attachment flange or may reduce the required reinforcement needed for a given application. The features disclosed herein also reduce the abrasion and concentration of force applied to the line coupled to the attachment flange which helps to prevent line wear and failure.

Abstract: A disconnectable buoyant turret mooring system for an FPSO is vulnerable to damage from collisions between the buoy and the buoy turret cage during mating and de-mating operations. It is therefore desirable that the buoy separate quickly from the turret of the FPSO vessel during a disconnect operation. A buoy turret cage is provided with a certain degree of porosity that allows a flow of seawater from the outside of the receptor to the inner surface of the receptor. Introducing water in this way relieves the suction forces and allows for a quicker separation of the buoy from the turret of the FPSO vessel, minimizing the time during which an uncontrolled collision between the buoy and the FPSO vessel is most likely. Filling a portion of the turret above the mooring buoy with water prior to releasing the buoy also decreases the separation time.

Abstract: A top connector for a tether of a subsea buoy is disclosed. The connector has a support, a lever member movable about a pivot axis, and a chain stop mechanism mounted on the lever member to be situated below the pivot axis in use. The lever member is pivotably connected to the support via a flex joint arranged to bear a tensile load exerted by a top chain of the tether when engaged with the chain stop mechanism. The flex joint improves bending fatigue life of the top chain. A frame extends upwardly from the support to carry a sheave for the top chain. A pivotably connected lever member extends downwardly from the support. The lever member is pivotable relative to the support and the frame, allowing a compact arrangement that avoids the frame, the top chain or the sheave clashing with the shell of the buoy.

Abstract: An elongate anchor arm is rotatably secured to the side of a boat so that the arm may be rotated down from the floating boat and locked into engagement with the water bottom. An anchoring and/or orienting effect is achieved by rotating and locking the arm such that a portion of the side of the arm is forced into and held against the water bottom. For anchoring in water deeper than the length of the anchor arm, one end of a flexible anchor line is secured to a conventional line-deployed anchor and the other line end is attached to the far end of the anchor arm. The arm is rotated to achieve the anchoring and/or orienting effect of attaching the anchor line at different points on the boat.
