Abstract: A computer casing (100) includes a cage (90), a side panel (10), a top panel (30), and a fastening device (60) for securing the side panel to the top panel. The side panel has a plurality of hooks (15). The top panel defines a sliding slot (38) slidably accommodating the fastening device. A plurality of recesses (48) defined in one side of the top panel is in communication with corresponding through holes (46) defined in one slot wall (44) bordering the sliding slot. A plurality of through openings (70) is defined through the fastening device. A spring (74) is placed over a cross-shaped nub (72) on one end of the fastening device. When the hooks are extending into the through openings, the hooks drive the fastening device to compress the spring. The spring then decompresses, causing the hooks to snappingly engage the side panel with the top panel.

Abstract: A friction hinge for a notebook computer having a base and a liquid crystal display (LCD) is provided. The hinge comprises a pair of sleeves each having one end mounted to the base of the notebook computer and the other end pivotal relative to the sleeve, and a bracket member mounted to the LCD, each end of the bracket member fixed to the other end of each sleeve. Abstract: A laptop computer display module for use in a clamshell type laptop computer includes a telescoping rail assembly that enables the display module to be extended upwardly from a keyboard module of the laptop computer when the display module is rotated to an open position. A computer display panel is rotatably mounted to a display support member of the display module adjacent a top margin of the display panel so that the display panel can be manually swung away from the display support member and toward a user of the laptop computer. The invention enables the display panel to be positioned at a comfortable viewing angle without blocking access to the keyboard module for typing and is particularly useful in depth-constrained workspaces such as airline passenger seats, where the display support member must be positioned at an acute angle relative to the keyboard module.
