摘要： Scratch resistant and antistatic sound and picture carriers made of synthetic resins are obtained by providing their surfaces with thin metal layer. The previously known gold layers applied electrolytically or in high vacuum have the disadvantage that they either were not sufficiently resistant to abrasion or the quality of reproduction was greatly impaired. Better results are obtained by providing the surfaces of the sound or picture carrier (1) with a thin coating (2), made of an iron-chromium-nickel alloy applied in a high vacuum and in a given case coating this layer with a noble metal coating (3), especially a gold coating, likewise applied in a high vacuum.

摘要： A lithographic printing process wherein an illuminated image on a document is scanned in a series of parallel sweeps with a photocell, applying an electric wave signal to a magnetic recording head with the amplitude of said signal determined by the output of the photocell and a function of the optical density of the image being scanned. The magnetic head has a width of from about 0.5 mils to about 5 mils and traverses a magnetic recording medium in a series of aligned parallel paths analogous to those scanned by the photocell to form a latent magnetic image in the magnetic recording medium, which image is a replica of the image being scanned. The horizontal spatial frequency is from about 200 to 1000 cycles/inch. The thus formed latent magnetic image is decorated with an oleophilic magnetic toner. The oleophilic magnetic image is transferred under pressure to a smooth heated lithographic substrate. If necessary, the toner is further heated to effect complete coalescence thereof. The thus formed lithographic printing plate is then used for lithographic printing.

In order to enable both relatively thick rigid records and relatively thin flexible records to be played on one playing apparatus, the invention provides a transparent adapter disc, which together with a flexible record can be positioned on the playing apparatus and driven in a rotary fashion. In order to prevent dust particles from being trapped between the flexible record and the transparent adapter disc, the adapter disc may be provided with a central recess with a number of air admission apertures at the circumference thereof, so that during operation a thin film of air is formed between the flexible record and the adapter disc.

摘要： A servo system is disclosed for use with a motor such as the drive motor for the head wheel of a recording and reproducing apparatus, for example. The servo system utilizes a phase comparator to phase lock a feedback signal supplied by a motor tachometer and a reference signal to control the phase and speed of the drive motor. The reference signal is generated by a digital processor which is adapted to adjust the phase of the reference signal to a predetermined lead relative to a standard frequency source and also includes means for adding or subtracting incremental phase adjustments by comparing the phase of said tachometer signal with the phase of said standard frequency source and providing error signals in said incremental amounts for adjusting the resulting reference signal that is applied to the tachometer phase comparator.

摘要： A device for the thermomagnetic recording of information on a highly coercive magnetizable recording medium. For this purpose is used, for example, a video recorder of the "helical scan" or "transversal scan" type whose drum has a co-rotating mirror and system of lenses with which an energy beam is directed and focussed on the recording medium at a small distance in front of the recording gap of the magnetic head. As a result of this the coercive force of the recording medium is locally reduced while using a very short heating time so that the medium can be recorded there by the head.

摘要： Composing method and apparatus for publications such as newspapers in which copy from various sources is entered into a computer in coded form for use in controlling a phototypesetter to prepare a page copy. Certain copy including artwork which may be half tone or continuous tone is scanned to provide the numerical data necessary for controlling the photoypesetter while text material is first edited on an editing terminal and then stored with or without phototypesetting instructions in the computer. Each item to be included in the publication is identified by a heading and layout department instructs the computer as to where the items are to appear. For this purpose the layout department has a layout terminal for displaying page areas with previously assigned sections outlined and identified and for entering coordinates of newly assigned sections into the computer. The terminal can display magnified portions of the page area. In reproducing continuous tone copy, dot characters are stored in a character memory and used to provide different half tone screen sizes.

摘要： A color video signal recording and reproducing system frequency converts a carrier chroma signal of a color television video signal to lower its frequency band to a recordable level. This signal is then mixed with a luminance signal of a limited frequency band to produce a combined signal which is supplied to a monochrome video tape recorder for recording on a magnetic tape. The frequency and phase of a color burst signal of a carrier chroma signal has a variation in the timing axis. An automatic phase control circuit takes this burst signal out of a video signal reproduced from the magnetic tape. The phase control circuit comprises a feedback loop including a voltage control oscillator, color burst keyer, phase comparator, and at least one frequency convertor. The feedback loop signal is made to agree with the output of a reference subcarrier generator. The carrier chroma signal is frequency converted and combined with a luminance signal taken out from the reproduced signal to provide a color video signal. This color signal includes a carrier chroma signal, from which the variation in the timing axis has been removed, and a luminance signal having a limited frequency band.
