    摘要: A batch-type pyrolysis furnace fired by a main heat source such as a gas burner or an electric heating coil in combination with an afterburner to burn volatiles generated in the furnace's main chamber, is operated to incinerate high-polymer loads smokelessy, yet is effectively safeguarded from explosions. A single thermocouple (throat TC) senses the instantaneous temperature in the throat of the furnace and in cooperation with a programmable controller, maintains a preselected ramp and soak temperature profile over the entire burn cycle. When the temperature required by the profile is exceeded, a single water spray actuated by a signal from the PC lowers the temperature below the profile. The throat TC thus maintains a fire under controlled temperature conditions in the main chamber without an explosion, using a single-stage system. This single-stage control system, for additional safety and redundancy, may include two back-up thermocouples, one in the main chamber (main chamber TC), and, a second (stack TC) in the exhaust stack downstream of the afterburner. The main chamber TC senses the ambient, essentially instantaneous temperature at that location, and actuates the water spray system. The main chamber TC and the stack TC may each also attenuate the output of the main burner and control its on/off operation.

    摘要: A flow controller system for optimally controlling the flow of air and fuel to a burner in a plurality of operating modes throughout the firing range of the burner is disclosed herein. The system includes a pair of differential pressure sensors connected across the air conduit and the burner, and the fuel conduit and the burner, as well as a pair of electrically operated air and fuel valves for controlling the pressure of the air and fuel destined for the burner. The system further includes a microprocessor control means electrically connected to both the pressure sensors and the air and fuel pressure regulating valves. Optimal air-to-fuel pressure ratios are empirically derived at each point along the firing range of the burner by means of detachably connectable flowmeters, oxygen sensors and thermocouples, and this information is stored within the memory of the microprocessor control means. The use of a microprocessor control means, in combination with a detachably connectable flowmeter and thermocouple, allows the system to be easily retrofitted onto an existing burner system without the need for installation of orifice plate-type flowmeters.

    摘要: A safety gas valve with latch against non-permitted reopening has the connector of the thermoelectric power unit located on the same side of the housing as the push button of the operating rod which is born shiftable and turnable in the housing. For this purpose, besides a first lever, carrying the closure member and a latch as part of the latching mechanism and cooperating with the power unit, there is provided a second lever which is tiltable around the stationary axis of the first lever. The one end of the second lever engages the armature pin of the power unit, where the other end is positioned opposite an inclined surface of the latch and disengages the latch from the first lever which carries the closure member. In the normal operating position, a projection of the latch keeps the safety valve open. After closing the valve manually, a portion of the latch is located opposite a stationary abutment until the power unit is deenergized after cooling down the thermocouple.

    摘要: A combustion safety arrangement in which a switch is connected in an electrical power circuit for an electromagnetic valve in a fuel passage. A combustion detecting element responds to a change of a flame caused by incomplete combustion or the like, and generates a signal or change in an electrical characteristic. The switch and the combustion detecting element are interconnected through a control circuit which has a level detector for detecting a predetermined level of the change in electrical characteristics. The arrangement is such that the switch may be opened by the predetermined level of the change in electrical characteristics. The control circuit has a time limit operation circuit so that only when the generation of the change in electrical characteristic is continued for a delayed time set by that time limit operation circuit, the switch may be opened. A timer circuit included in the control circuit is provided with a condenser which is charged through a resistance by closing a power switch in the electrical power circuit.
