摘要: A thermal power plant having multi-staged steam turbines and heat exchangers therebetween, each heat exchanger extracting heat from the supply to an upstream stage for adding heat to the supply of the next successive downstream stage; a portion of the supply to the last downstream stage being diverted through a heater for adding heat to the feedwater flow to a boiler. Additional heat exchangers may be provided between stages for utilizing the feedwater to cool the working steam. One form of heat exchanger is provided with a plurality of axially spaced annular chambers having vortex flow producing means adjacent the inner peripheries thereof; whereas another form of heat exchanger is provided with a helically finned interior chamber in fluid communication with upstream guide vanes for inducing vortex flow.

摘要: A multitubular heat exchanger used in a power plant is provided with a bundle of U-shaped heat transfer tubes and a vent tube. The vent tube is located between an upper portion and a lower portion of the bundle of U-shaped heat transfer tubes. A steam flow guide plate is located above a hole of the vent tube and below the upper portion of the bundle of U-shaped heat transfer tubes. The steam flow guide plate obstruct a downward steam flow from the upper portion of the bundle toward the vent tube.

摘要: Feedwater preheater for heating feedwater in the form of steam turbine condensate by means of condensing extraction steam from a turbine, includes a casing, a fixed tube plate and a movable tube plate disposed opposite one another in the casing, feedwater inlet and outlet chambers located adjacent the fixed tube plate, a feedwater reversing chamber disposed in the casing and partly defined by the movable tube plate, a first group of feedwater conducting tubes connected at one end thereof through the fixed tube plate to the feedwater inlet chamber and at the other end through the movable tube plate to the reversing chamber, a second group of tubes connected at one end thereof through the movable tube plate to the reversing chamber and at the other end thereof through the fixed tube plate to the feedwater outlet chamber, a steam vessel disposed in the casing and surrounding the second group of tubes, the first group of tubes, on the one hand, and the second group of tubes, on the other hand, being mutually spaced apart a distance so great that stresses produced by varying thermal expansion of the tubes which, in turn, produce a tipping movement and deformation of the movable tube plate do not exceed a permissible value.

摘要: In a steam engine, an intermediate phase is provided for preheating the feedwater before it enters the boiler. The preheating is achieved by means of the reapplication of the otherwise dispensable exhaust steam in a simple feedback operation in which the exhaust steam is introduced directly into the feedwater. By means of electronic controls the operation of the system at the highest possible point of preheat (up to 210.degree. F.) is achieved thus assuring both high efficiency of the machine and cumulative economy in fuel consumption as well. The latter is further augmented by generous application of insulation to prevent wasteful dissipation of thermal energy as well as to effect protection of the system against the elements.

摘要: A feedwater heater for use in a power plant system in which steam from another unit in the system is introduced into the shell of the heater and the latter discharges condensate to another unit in the system. Feedwater to be heated is circulated through tubes in the shell in heat exchange relation to the steam whereby a portion of the steam is condensed. Another portion of the steam is directed to an area of the shell where it warms the condensate to a degree that maintains the condensate at or near its saturation temperature. An additional inlet is provided in the shell for receiving condensate from another unit of the system along with means for breaking up the flow of the latter condensate to promote deaeration as a portion of the condensate flashes into vapor. The vapor produced as a result of the flashing is directed in the same flow path as the above-mentioned steam, and vent means are provided for permitting the removal of the non-condensibles and associated water vapor from the shell.
