The present invention provides a die-casting method comprising the steps of evacuating a cavity 30 defined by dies of a die-casting machine to provide therein a vacuum of 100 millibar or less during a first period, injecting a reactive gas from a sleeve of the die-casting machine into the cavity 30 during a second period which has a partial overlap period with the first period and follows the overlap period, so as to increase the inner pressure of the cavity to atmospheric pressure or more, pouring a molten aluminum alloy M into the sleeve 40 while keeping the injection of the reactive gas, and subsequently moving a plunger 42 in the sleeve forward to forcibly inject the molten aluminum alloy from the sleeve into the cavity 30 while re-evacuating the cavity 30. The evacuation, reactive-gas injection and re-evacuation operations can be performed with respective overlap periods therebetween. During the operation of supplying the molten aluminum alloy, air and water are effectively discharged to outside, and the reactive gas in an unreacted state is discharged to outside without being incorporated into the molten aluminum alloy. Thus, the present invention provides a die-cast product having a significantly reduced volume of incorporated gases and allows the die-cast product to be applied to functional members.

A nozzle member 14 of which the inside of the rear part is formed into a measuring chamber 13 is attached to the tip of a melt cylinder 11. The end face of the opening periphery of the measuring chamber 13 of the nozzle member 14 faced to the inside of the melt cylinder is projectingly formed into a ring-shaped bearing 14b. A hollow stirring shaft 16 provided with stirring blades 15 on the outer periphery is supported by the bearing 14b and a bearing member 21 in the rear end of the melt cylinder so as to be freely rotatable with a suction port 25 bored in the side wall of the tip part. An injection rod is put into the stirring shaft and a plunger 17 with a ring valve on the tip is fitted into the measuring chamber 13 so as to be freely movable forwards and backwards. The inside of the melt cylinder is partitioned into a melt stirring part A and a molten metal reservoir B by the stirring shaft 16. The meting cylinder 11 is installed slantwise on the machine base with the nozzle member side downward to use the tip part as a sludge receiver 27.

The present invention provides a method and apparatus for die-casting copper and other metals that are cost-effective and practical for production use in die-casting, for example, copper motor rotors. In motor rotors, the incorporation of die-cast copper for conductor bars and end rings in place of aluminum is known to result in improvements in motor energy efficiency. Previous attempts to die-cast copper motor rotors in a commercially feasible manner have failed because copper's high melting point places too great a stress on the die material, resulting in cracking and fracturing of the molds. High temperature die materials such as nickel, tungsten and molybdenum based alloys with a high melting point are employed, and a die casting apparatus is provided to pre-heat the molds prior to injection of the molten copper. Pre-heating and high operating temperatures provide extended die life. By preheating, the die materials experience reduced cyclic stresses associated with thermal expansion, because the thermal shock that results from the difference in temperature between the molten copper and the surface of the mold is reduced, ideally below the yield strength of the mold material. Extended die life provides the opportunity for economically viable copper motor rotor die-casting.

The invention has an object to permit to mold metal molds having a thixothropic structure by melting, agitating and weighing, injection molten metal in a melting vessel by combining separately functioning agitation means and injection means. The invention consists in supply granular metal material in a fusion vessel 11 having a weighing chamber 17 by a cylinder of required length communicating with a nozzle port at the extremity section, including rotatively an agitation means 21 inside, and wherein an injection means 22 whose extremity section is formed into an injection plunger 30 is inserted advanceably and retractably into the center section of this agitation means 21. The metal material is heat melted by an external heat. The molten metal material is accumulated in the fusion vessel by homogenizing by the agitation means 21.
