摘要： A device, for selecting sets of rolls for twenty-high rolling mill, comprising a flat board, whereupon eccentric disks are mounted in full conformity with the positioning of the backup rolls of a rolling mill, dimensions of said disks corresponding to the dimensions of the backup rolls of the rolling mill. Secured on the board is a vertical guide member, for displacement of disks corresponding to the working roll and second intermediate idle roll, and a horizontal bar corresponding to the passline of rolling mill, with respect to which the position of the working roll is determined. In addition, there are other disks which are installed on the board in compliance with the positioning in the rolling mill of the first intermediate and second intermediate drive rolls, thus forming a two-dimensional model of the roll arrangement in the rolling mill. The dimensions of rolls are selected by varying the position of the disks corresponding to the backup rolls so as to provide the required processing gap between the working rolls of the rolling mill.

摘要： A latch ring, chock and drive pod retainer assembly ideally suited for use with a finishing stand roll having a chock located at each of its ends, a drive pod at one of its ends, and a circumferal groove formed at each of its ends. The latch ring assembly is employed for retaining the chocks and the drive pod on their respective ends of the roll. The latch ring assembly includes a plurality of latching arms pivotally mounted within a generally toroidal shaped housing, the latching arms being movable between a latched position, in which the latching arms engage the circumferal groove of the roll, and an unlatched position, in which the latching arms are retracted within the assembly housing to a position in which they are out of engagement with the finishing roll circumferal groove. The assembly is configured such that the latching arms are biased toward their latched positions, the assembly also having a mechanism which is operated to retain the latching arms in their unlatched position for facilitating removal of the latch assembly from the roll when it is desired to remove the drive pod and chocks therefrom.

摘要： A roll pelletizer as disclosed and claimed in U.S. Patent Number 3,561,051 with rolls consisting of a helically wound strip of resilient material having a reduced depth portion along its length providing grooves in adjacent wraps of the strip, the remaining non-reduced depth portion of the strip defining lands. Opposed compressive rolls of this invention are helically wound with opposite hands so that lands of one roll intermesh or mate with grooves of an opposed roll. In preferred forms of this invention, a thin, non-yieldable (generally metal) strip is helically wound on a cylindrical base member with the helically wound resilient strip interposed between adjacent wraps thereof. The non-yieldable strip may include right angle tabs spaced at intervals along the length thereof which mate with spaces provided therefor in the grooved portions of the resilient strip. Uniform particle size or predetermined length pellets, of material such as synthetic aggregate made from a formable cementitious material, are manufactured by passing such material through mating helically wound rolls with such right angle tabs.

摘要： Fuser apparatus for affixing toner images to a substrate by means of heat and pressure. The apparatus is characterized by a heated fuser roll which is internally heated and has a reservoir of offset preventing material supported by a tubular member comprising the core or base of the fuser roll. A resilient, low surface energy layer of a lesser thickness than the reservoir is adhered thereto. The reservoir comprises a porous, thermally conductive member through which offset preventing material diffuses during operation of the apparatus. The offset preventing material also diffuses through the resilient layer and forms a thin coating on the surface thereof to form a boundary layer for preventing toner from offsetting to the resilient material.

摘要： A composite roll which has a hard wear resistant shell and a tough shock resistant arbor, and a method of forming the same. The shell is adhesively affixed to the arbor, thus avoiding a shrink fit which places the shell under tension. The roll is adapted for use in applications where the arbor-shell interface reaches temperatures up to 400F, and the adhesive must withstand these temperatures without breaking down. The preferred adhesive is a thermosetting epoxy material cured at an elevated temperature with an aromatic diamine.
