Abstract: Described are systems and methods for determining causal connections between various metrics collected by wearable devices and using those causal connections to provide causal insights to other users. For example, some users may elect to perform one or more self-experiments to explore the impact certain changes in their behavior may have on metrics measured by the user's wearable device. Causal connections determined from those experiments may be used to provide causal insights relating to those metrics to other users who have not performed the same or similar experiments.

Abstract: A computer device receives, via a graphical user interface, a first user input specifying a first data field of the dataset. The first data field has a first data type. In response to receiving the first user input, the device selects a first visualization type of a data visualization, for visualizing a portion of the dataset based on the first data type, and displays the data visualization. The device receives, via the graphical user interface, a second user input specifying a second data field of the dataset. The second data field is distinct from the first data field and has a second data type. In response to receiving the second user input, the device selects a second visualization type based at least in part on the first data type and the second data type, and displays an updated data visualization, having the second visualization type, in the graphical user interface.

Abstract: In an embodiment, a database platform receives a query that is directed at least in part to external data in an external table stored on a data storage platform that is external to the database platform. The external table includes a plurality of partitions. The database platform identifies, from external-table metadata, a subset of the plurality of partitions of the external table as including data that potentially satisfies the query. The external-table metadata is stored by the database platform. The database platform identifies data that satisfies the query by scanning the identified subset of the partitions, and responds to the query at least in part with the identified data that satisfies the query.

Abstract: A versioned dataset is managed. An updated versioned dataset is created by applying a structured query to a specific version of multiple versions of the versioned dataset stored in the backing dataset. Data of the versions including the specific version remain unchanged. A versioned dataset catalogue is updated to include in association with the updated dataset version, the structured query and lineage indicating that the updated versioned dataset includes a successor of the specific version. An affiliation encoding associated with the updated versioned dataset indicating which data of the updated versioned dataset matches data of the specific version and which data of the updated versioned dataset is deleted relative to data of the specific version, is updated. A database view of the updated versioned dataset is generated by selecting rows and projecting columns of the backing dataset corresponding to the updated versioned dataset according to the affiliation encoding.

The property sets are organized hierarchically to form a property tree. A commit graph stores the property set objects via an append only data structure. The commit graph provides a topology of changes between states of the objects as commit nodes organized as parent commit nodes and child commit nodes. Change sets represent a change between two commit nodes. Each change set tracks changes made on the objects, and the changes specify permitted basic operations including insert, remove, or modify operations that are applied on each state to get to a next state of the objects.

Abstract: Methods and systems are presented for collectively storing, managing, and analyzing data associated with different data sources. A data management system defines an enterprise data model schema based on different data model schemas associated with the different data sources. The data management system generates, for each data source, an enterprise data model instance based on the enterprise data model schema. Data is ingested from the different data sources, and then transformed and stored in a corresponding enterprise data model instance based on a mapping between a corresponding data model schema and the enterprise data model schema. Upon ingesting the data from the data sources, one or more consolidated data views are generated that combine at least portions of data from different enterprise data model instances. The data arranged according to the one or more consolidated data views is presented on a device and/or further analyzed to produce an analysis outcome.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for reducing downtime during upgrades of interrelated components in a computing environment. The method commences while at least one running software application is executing within the computing environment by loading a plurality of database objects from an initial run edition into a patch edition. The database objects comprise at least one software application code module, at least one relational database table, and at least one file system. The method continues by applying at least one patch to the software application code module(s) corresponding to the running software application(s) to create patched software application(s), then applying patches to the relational database table to create a patched relational database table, and further applying a patch to the file system to create a patched file system. When the subject patches have been applied, the method stops the running software application(s) and starts the patched software application(s).
