    Abstract: The present invention provides a latent electrostatic image bearing member which includes a support, a charge generating layer, and a charge transporting layer, the charge generating layer and the charge transporting layer being arranged in this order on or above the support, wherein the charge transporting layer comprises at least a charge transporting material and a binder resin and has a thickness of 30 μm to 50 μm; and the distribution representing the relation between the absorbance ratio of the charge transporting material and the binder resin measured by infrared spectroscopy and the distance from the surface of the charge transporting layer toward the thickness direction thereof represents a generally linear shape without having inflection points within 20 μm from the surface of the charge transporting layer toward the thickness thereof.

    Abstract: An electrophotographic photoreceptor containing a naphthalenetetracarboxylic acid diimide derivative of Formula (1), which has a branched alkyl group substituted with an aryl group at the α-position with regard to nitrogen atoms of imide groups: wherein R1 and R2 are independently selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a C1-C20 substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, and a C1-C20 substituted or unsubstituted alkoxy group; R3 is selected from the group consisting of a C1-C20 substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, a C1-C20 substituted or unsubstituted alkoxy group, a C7-C30 substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl group, and a group having the formula —(CH2)n—Y—R4; Ar is a C6-C30 substituted or unsubstituted aryl group; Y is an oxygen or sulfur atom; R4 is a hydrogen atom or a C1-C20 substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group; and n is an integer between 1 and 12. The naphthalenetetracarboxylic acid diimide derivative has high solubility in organic solvents and compatibility with binder resins, thus providing better electron transporting ability. The invention is also directed to an electrophotographic imaging apparatus using the photoreceptor.
