Abstract: The present invention relates to a fixing structure of a side shield for glasses wherein a side shield installed in glasses legs, comprising a through hole formed in inner upper and lower portions of a rear end of a side shield surrounding the glasses legs, and a fixture having an elastic piece in the interior of the same and a hook part in the upper and lower sides of a front end wherein said fixture is inserted through an opening of the side shield, and the hook part of the fixture is engaged to the though hole, and the elastic piece of the fixture is elastically closely contacted with the glasses legs. In the present invention, the size of the fixture is large, and the hook part of the fixture is inserted into the through hole formed in the side shield. Therefore, anyone can easily insert the fixture for thereby achieving a convenient assembling work, and the side shield is easily fixed to the glasses legs.

Abstract: This invention relates to a eyeglass case and visor with a novel method of attachment to the limbs of a pair of eyeglasses, so that the eyeglasses are firmly connected to the visor at the forehead of the wearer of the eyeglasses, in an attitude which keeps it from drooping into the vision range of the user. More particularly, the visor is formed of two plies of material, the top ply is crescent shaped and the bottom ply is crescent shaped with the corners removed to allow for a wide opening pocket and proper placement of attachment bands on the bottom of the top ply of material. The top and bottom plies of material are connected together along the convex edges of the top and bottom plies of material, but are left substantially unconnected along the other edges except for a fastening means, thereby forming a wide opening pocket in which the eyeglasses can be placed without removal of the eyeglass limbs from the visor attachment bands.

Abstract: A side shield for eyeglasses with a spring-hinge temple bar comprising a side wall having a rear edge, front edge, and inside surface. The side shield has a relief structure extending forwardly from the rear edge of the side shield. A fastening structure is located on the relief structure towards the rear edge of the side shield, the fastening structure securing the relief structure to the temple bar of the eyeglasses. The relief structure allows outward deflection of the spring-hinge temple bar when biased outwardly without significantly displacing the side shield from its normal assembled position.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for increasing the depth of focus of the human eye is comprised of a lens body, an optic in the lens body configured to produce light interference, and a pinhole-like optical aperture substantially in the center of the optic. The optic may be configured to produce light scattering or composed of a light reflective material. Alternatively, the optic may increase the depth of focus via a combination of light interference, light scattering, light reflection and/or light absorption. The optic may also be configured as a series of concentric circles, a weave, a pattern of particles, or a pattern of curvatures. One method involves screening a patient for an ophthalmic lens using a pinhole screening device in the lens to increase the patient's depth of focus. Another method comprises surgically implanting a mask in the patient's eye to increase the depth of focus.

Abstract: A headlight glare reducing ophthalmic lens system is described as being incorporated into an eyeglass arrangement, or as an attachment to conventional eyeglasses, wherein the lens system is laterally adjustable to allow a user to select the amount of lens tint, or light transmisitivity, that is placed into his viewing path. A pair of lenses, each having a lateral gradient of tint distributed along its horizontal extent, is carried by a beam member which is laterally movable with respect to a corresponding track member to provide the desired amount of glare blocking or light attenuation dependent upon the actual driving conditions being encountered. Alternate embodiments disclose the use of telescoping sections which allow the user to tailor the baseline eyeglass version to his/her personal preferences, and a clip-on version is also described.
