    摘要: To provide a seat weight measuring apparatus having advantages such as reduced production cost and assembling cost. The seat weight measuring apparatus comprises a seat frame for supporting the seat and a load sensor attached on the seat frame. The seat frame is provided with blocks respectively on the lower surfaces of the front ends of the left and right seat rails fixed thereon, and vehicle body mounting brackets are pivotally connected to the blocks. A load sensor is disposed under the front end of the load transmitting plate of the rear frame mounted on the rear ends of the seat rails. In the seat weight measuring apparatus in such a structure, the seat weight is supported at three points of; the pivotally connected portions at the front ends on the left and right sides and the load sensor at the rear center so as to be horizontal with respect to the floor of the vehicle body. Since there is provided a single load sensor, the production cost and the assembling/wiring cost are reduced in comparison with the related art.

    摘要: A system and method use a wireless tether comprising a transmitter and a receiver to alert a caregiver that an object has been left unattended. A detector senses the presence of the object, usually a child, located in a position such as a safety seat. The detector is operatively coupled to the transmitter, which is located near the object. The transmitter transmits at least one wireless signal when the object is in the position. The receiver, which is remotely located from the transmitter, senses the at least one signal as long as the receiver is within a prescribed range of transmission. By performing a timing function, the receiver monitors the proximity of the caregiver, who maintains possession of the receiver, to the transmitter. The system communicates an alarm to the caregiver when the caregiver ventures outside the range of transmission without having removed the object from the position.

    摘要: A method of deploying a passenger side airbag as a function of the actual mass of the occupant on the passenger seat. This is accomplished by providing force sensors at one or more of the anchor pieces at which a seat belt is connected to the vehicle. The sensors may be strain gauges that measure the deflection of bolts connecting the ends of the seat belt to the anchor pieces. By sizing the nominal resistance of strain gauges at two anchor pieces, the two resistors can be put in a series circuit such that only the sum of the two resistances need be measured. The measurements obtained are then used to obtain the vertical components of force due to the seat belt. This value is then be subtracted from the total vertical force measured by a seat cushion weight sensor to determine the mass of the seat occupant.

    摘要: A vehicle occupant protection system for a motor vehicle includes a firing circuit, a control unit, a lockable latching device, and a sensor device. The firing circuit includes a firing cap for an airbag unit. The control unit activates the firing cap. The lockable latching device attaches a child seat. The sensor device has a switch and an electrical element connected in parallel to one another. The switch is open when the latching device is locked to prevent the firing cap from being activated. Preferably, the electrical element is a resistor. The control unit can determine an electrical resistance of the firing circuit. This is very useful when the vehicle occupant protection system includes a series of switches, each with a respective resistor connected in parallel to said second switch, because by judging the overall resistance the control unit can determine if all of the switches have been activated. The switch can include a Reed contact. The Reed contact is opened by a magnet that is positioned when the child seat is installed.

The system detects a velocity of the vehicle and compares it with a predetermined velocity threshold. When the velocity is equal to or lower than the threshold, the seat occupancy condition is determined and the determined condition is stored in a storage area as seat occupancy condition data. When the velocity is over the threshold, the stored seat occupancy condition date is send to the air bag ECU.

    摘要: A seat occupant in a vehicle is classified into one of first and second categories by using a support vector machine (SVM). Sensor signals are obtained from seat sensors to form a sensor signal vector. By using the sensor signal vector, a value of a two-value decision function known as SVM is calculated. The seat occupant is decided to be of one of the first and second categories associated with the value. The two-value decision function can be generated through support vector learning by using a set of training vectors obtained from the seat sensors. An airbag system using an inventive seat occupant classifying apparatus is also disclosed.

    摘要: A system for measuring seat belt forces is used to control deployment of vehicle airbags. The system includes a rigid plate member having one end attached to a portion of the seat belt and an opposite end mounted to a vehicle structure. The seat belt is used to secure passengers or an infant car seat to the vehicle seat. A sensor including a strain gage is mounted on the rigid plate between the ends and is used to measure the magnitude of forces exerted on the seat belt by the passenger or car seat. The strain gage generates a signal representative of the tension in the seat belt, which is used to control deployment of the airbag. The airbag is not deployed if the tension in the seat belt exceeds a predetermined limit.
