Abstract: Techniques are provided for reduction of processing requirements for portions of a received transmission relative to processing requirements for other portions of the same transmission. Different coding schemes may be employed for portions of a data transmission. In some examples, a tail portion of a data transmission may use a coding scheme that had reduced processing requirements relative to other portions of the data transmission. The reduced processing requirements may allow a receiver to generate an acknowledgment of receipt relatively quickly, which may reduce latency for acknowledging receipt of a transmission.

Abstract: Unified spatial operations for dynamic medium sharing is disclosed in which a non-priority transmitter detects a priority reservation reference signal (RRS) over a shared spectrum from a high-priority transmitter The shared spectrum is shared by the non-priority transmitter with at least one high-priority communication pair. The high-priority communication pair includes a high-priority transmitter and the high-priority receiver. After detecting the RRS, the non-priority transmitter generates a non-priority channel estimate for a first channel between the non-priority transmitter and a non-priority receiver and a priority channel estimate for a second channel between the non-priority transmitter and the priority receiver. The non-priority transmitter transmits data on the shared spectrum using a transmission precoder determined using the non-priority channel estimate and the priority channel estimate, wherein the transmission precoder aligns transmission of the data to minimize interference with the high-priority receiver.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to wireless communication systems configured to share a shared spectrum with one or more other systems (e.g., other operator networks utilizing the same radio access technology, and/or other networks utilizing different radio access technologies). Coexistence between the different systems on the shared spectrum may be provided by utilizing a technology-neutral signature waveform such as a signature sequence. A device or system may monitor a shared spectrum channel for the signature waveform, and when detected, may determine whether the shared spectrum is available for that system, or busy as occupied by another system. When the shared spectrum channel is idle, the device or system may reserve the channel by transmitting the signature waveform. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to sharing a frequency-division duplexing (FDD) spectrum among multiple network operating entities. In one embodiment, a first wireless communication device communicates, with a second wireless communication device in a downlink (DL) frequency band, a reservation signal in a first channel sensing time slot of a frame to reserve a transmission time slot in the frame. The first wireless communication device communicates, in an uplink (UL) frequency band, an UL control signal in the first channel sensing time slot. The UL frequency band and the DL frequency band are shared by a plurality of network operating entities for frequency-division duplexing (FDD) communications. In another embodiment, a first wireless communication device communicates, in a first frequency band of a FDD network shared by a plurality of network operating entities, a reservation signal to reserve the first frequency band for time-division duplexing (TDD) communications.

Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to improving macro diversity are provided. A first wireless communication device communicates, in a frequency channel, a first signal with a user equipment (UE) during a first time period. The first wireless communication device coordinates, with a second wireless communication device, a communication of a second signal with the UE in the frequency channel during a second time period. The coordination with the second wireless communication device is based on a switch to coordinate with the second wireless communication device based on at least occupancy of the frequency channel. The second wireless communication device communicates, in the frequency channel, the second signal with the UE during the second time period based on the coordination. The first wireless communication device and the second wireless communication device are different. The first time period and the second time period are different.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) or base station communicating in an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band may transmit a signal (e.g., a request-to-send (RTS) or clear-to-send (CTS) signal) in a licensed radio frequency spectrum band to decrease the likelihood that neighboring devices will transmit interfering communications. Specific resources may be designated in the licensed radio frequency spectrum band for transmitting these signals, and these resources may be associated with specific unlicensed channels. Signaling in the licensed radio frequency spectrum band may also carry an indication of the unlicensed channel being used or other information relevant to the unlicensed communication. The RTS/CTS signaling in licensed radio frequency spectrum band may be transmitted during a downlink transmit opportunity or an uplink transmit opportunity, or both. Different energy detection thresholds may apply to RTS/CTS signals in licensed and unlicensed spectrum.
