Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are disclosed that may perform simultaneous ranging operations between a requester device and each of a plurality of target devices using OFDMA-based frame exchanges while maintaining a level of accuracy comparable to ranging operations that do not use OFDMA-based frame exchanges. Tone interleaving may be used so that the ranging devices may estimate channel conditions for the full frequency spectrum of the wireless medium. For example, a unique set of two or more non-adjacent groups of OFDM sub-carrier frequencies may be allocated to each of the plurality of target devices for ranging operations.

Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for performing multi-channel passive ranging operations are disclosed. In one example, a passive listening device may receive, on a first wireless channel, a first exchange of signals between a first wireless device and a second wireless device, and then receive on a second wireless channel, a second exchange of signals between the first wireless device and the second wireless device, the first wireless channel different than the second wireless channel. The passive listening device may determine a differential distance between the passive listening device and the first and second wireless devices based, at least in part, on the first and second exchanges of signals on the first and second wireless channels, respectively.

Abstract: A TOA positioning system can be implemented that employs a calculated initial location of a wireless network device. Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for a wireless positioning framework in which an access point (AP) broadcasts a message within a beacon interval that identifies a transmission schedule for a set of stations. The message may include an information element identifying the stations in the set. The set may be determined based on station clock drifts and/or a ranging accuracy sought by the AP. The AP may also provide a station identifier, and frame spacing and delay parameters, which may be used to determine a distinct backoff for each station. Using distinct backoffs allow the stations to avoid collisions when sending the transmissions. The AP may receive the transmissions according to the identified schedule and may determine a range (e.g., round-trip time) for each station in the set based at least on a time at which the respective transmission is received.

Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for radio frequency (RF) sensing in wireless communication systems. In some implementations, a transmitter device transmits sounding sequences configured for channel estimation over a wireless channel to a receiver device. The transmitter device also transmits or receives non-sounding frames associated with a channel report of the receiver device. The transmitter device transmits a frame soliciting the channel report from the receiver device. The transmitter device receives the channel report, which may include channel state information (CSI) of the wireless channel responsive to at least the sounding sequences. Some types of channel reports may take longer to generate than other types of channel reports. Transmitting or receiving the non-sounding frames during the time period may prevent other devices from accessing the wireless channel when the receiver device needs additional time to generate a certain type of channel report.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for performing radio frequency (RF) sensing to determine the viewing status of a television user. This can be used to determine user behavior during the playback of content (e.g., whether a user is watching the content), which can be used as a data point for determining the user's level of interest in the content. Using the status of the television user, embodiments can provide additional or alternative functionality, such as powering down and/or powering up the television. Furthermore, RF sensing may be performed by existing television hardware, such a Wi-Fi transceiver, and may therefore provide RF sensing functionality to a television with little or no added cost.
