Abstract: An apparatus for use by a first communication network control element configured to control a communication connection of at least one communication element in a first network area providing a specific communication capability, the apparatus including processing circuitry, and memory for storing instructions to be executed by the processing circuitry, wherein the memory and the instructions are configured to, with the processing circuitry, cause the apparatus at least: to determine that a communication element communicating in the first network area and using the specific communication capability enters a second network area which does not provide the specific communication capability and that there is a switching of the communication connection to the second network area, and to cause sending of connection switching information related to the switching of the communication connection of the communication element to a second communication network control element.

Abstract: The present invention introduces a beam-based UE mobility state estimate for power saving purposes, based on monitoring the distinct beam(s) (302) detected by the UE. In other words, the number N of distinct serving beams changed by the UE within a time window T is monitored (302) against the configured threshold values. If N is below a first threshold value “Thr1”, a low/stationary mobility state is determined (303) and the UE applies a first measurement configuration (305) associated with the low/stationary mobility state. If N is between first and second threshold values “Thr1” and “Thr2”, a medium mobility state is determined (304) and the UE applies a second measurement configuration (306) associated with the medium mobility state. If N is above the second threshold value “Thr2”, a high mobility state is determined and the UE applies a third measurement configuration associated with the high mobility state.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) has both cellular and non-cellular links. The network sends it a first indication to maintain using a first set of security keys generated from a parameter specific to a source access node after the UE hands over the cellular link to a target access node without changing a wireless termination (WT) that is connected with the UE via the non-cellular link. The network uses that key to maintain the non-cellular link with the UE after the cellular link handover. From the UE's perspective it uses that key to authenticate its non-cellular link prior to the cellular link handover, but this handover does not change the WT which communicates with the UE via the non-cellular link so the UE can, only in response to receiving a first indication associated with the handover, use that same key to maintain that non-cellular link after the handover.
