    Abstract: Techniques for EVPN Host Routed Bridging (HRB) and EVPN cloud-native data center with Host Routed Bridging (HRB) are described. A host computing device of a data center includes one or more containerized user-level applications. A cloud native virtual router is configured for dynamic deployment by the data center application orchestration engine and operable in a user space of the host computing device. Processing circuitry is configured for execution of the containerized user-level applications and the cloud native virtual router. The cloud native virtual router comprises a containerized routing protocol process configured to operate as a control plane, and a data plane for the containerized router. The data plane is configured to operate an ethernet virtual private network (EVPN) encapsulation/decapsulation data path of an overlay network for communicating layer two (L2) network traffic of the containerized user applications over a switch fabric of the data center.

    Abstract: A disclosed method may include (1) identifying, by a PE router, a conditional advertisement policy that requires installation of at least one address of an active service appliance within a routing table to trigger advertising a route for the active service appliance to one or more additional PE routers, (2) inspecting the routing table for the installation of the address of the active service appliance, (3) determining, based at least in part on the inspection, that the address of the active service appliance is installed in the routing table, (4) determining that the PE router has satisfied the conditional advertisement policy due at least in part to the address of the active service appliance being installed in the routing table, and then in response, (5) directing the PE router to advertise the route to the additional PE routers. Various other apparatuses, systems, and methods are also disclosed.

    Abstract: A network device may generate a route advertisement that includes a media access control (MAC) address. The MAC address may correspond to a data link established between the network device and a customer edge (CE) device. The network device and the CE device may be associated with an Ethernet virtual private network (EVPN) that includes other network devices that are remote from the CE device. The network device may cause the route advertisement to be outputted over the EVPN. The route advertisement may permit the other network devices to learn that the data link is directly reachable via the MAC address, and may permit the other network devices, when configured as maintenance endpoints (MEPs), to directly address performance monitoring-related unicast packets, intended for the data link, using the MAC address, such that flooding of the performance monitoring-related unicast packets is avoided.
