Abstract:
In some implementations, a computing device can improve the legibility of text presented over an image based on a complexity metric calculated for the underlying image. For example, the presented text can have display attributes, such as color, shadow, and background gradient. The display attributes for the presented text can be selected based on the complexity metric calculated for the underlying image (e.g., portion of the image) so that the text will be legible to the user of the computing device.
Abstract:
User interface navigation on a personal electronics device based on movements of a crown is disclosed. The device can select an appropriate level of information arranged along a z-axis for display based on crown movement. The navigation can be based on an angular velocity of the crown.
Abstract:
A method of activating a first device is disclosed. The method includes: the first device pairing with a second device; receiving a connection request from a second device; connecting to the second device; opening a communication channel to the second device; transmitting an activation package to the second device; receiving an activation payload from the second device; and performing an activation using information from the activation payload.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to electronic message user interfaces. A device, including a display, a touch-sensitive surface, and a rotatable input mechanism, is described in relation to accessing, composing, and manipulating electronic messages. In some examples, a user can provide input through the rotatable input mechanism to access a landing screen of an electronic messages application. The landing screen concurrently displays an affordance for accessing an electronic messages inbox and an affordance for accessing an interface for composing electronic message.
Abstract:
Reduced-size user interfaces for providing weather information are disclosed. At an electronic device with a touch-sensitive display, indications of a location and a temperature at the location may be displayed. In some examples, a user may provide input through a touch on the touch-sensitive display and/or through a rotation of a rotatable input mechanism to display additional weather information, such as weather information for another location, another temperature, another time, and so forth. In some examples, the device may obtain data representing an upcoming activity, determine whether the activity is to begin within a threshold amount of time, and display weather information based on the upcoming activity. In some examples, the device may display an affordance at a position to indicate the time of day for which a weather condition is provided.
Abstract:
Context-specific user interfaces for use with a portable multifunction device are disclosed. The methods described herein for context-specific user interfaces provide indications of time and, optionally, a variety of additional information. Further disclosed are non-transitory computer-readable storage media, systems, and devices configured to perform the methods described herein.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to user interfaces for manipulating user interface objects. A device, including a display and a rotatable input mechanism, is described in relation to manipulating user interface objects. In some examples, the manipulation of the object is a scroll, zoom, or rotate of the object. In other examples, objects are selected in accordance with simulated magnetic properties.
Abstract:
An electronic device displays a compass user interface with a direction indicator and a bearing indicator. The direction indicator provides an indication of a respective compass direction, wherein the appearance of the direction indicator is determined based on the orientation of the electronic device relative to the respective compass direction. The bearing indicator provides an indication of an offset from the respective compass direction. While displaying the bearing indicator, the electronic device detects rotation of the rotatable input mechanism and, in response, changes the displayed position of the bearing indicator from a first position to a second position by an amount that is determined in accordance with a magnitude of the rotation of the rotatable input mechanism.
Abstract:
The present disclosure generally relates to creating and editing avatars, and navigating avatar selection interfaces. In some examples, an avatar feature user interface includes a plurality of feature options that can be customized to create an avatar. In some examples, different types of avatars can be managed for use in different applications. In some examples, an interface is provided for navigating types of avatars for an application.
Abstract:
The present disclosure generally relates to providing electronic devices with faster, more efficient methods and context-specific user interfaces for indicating time. Such methods and interfaces optionally complement or replace other methods for indicating time. Such methods and interfaces reduce the cognitive burden on a user and produce a more efficient human-machine interface. For battery-operated computing devices, such methods and interfaces conserve power and increase the time between battery charges.
