Abstract: Devices, systems and methods are disclosed for allowing a media device to select a preferred configuration and send instructions to a remote device to connect to the media device using the preferred configuration. For example, the media device may choose between a direct configuration (e.g., media device communicates with the remote device directly via a first wireless network associated with the media device) or an indirect configuration (e.g., media device communicates with the remote device via a second wireless network associated with an external access point). The media device may select the preferred configuration based on data rates and/or airtime values determined based on the first wireless network and the second wireless network.

Abstract: Techniques for harmonizing wireless communications performed by a computing device which communicates using varying wireless communication standards are described herein. For instance, a computing device may include multiple chipsets with associated antennas that are configured to perform wireless communications using separate wireless standards which operate at overlapping frequencies. To avoid performance degradation experienced in simultaneous use cases with communications operating at overlapping frequencies, the multiple chipsets may be configured with logic to determine which communications are prioritized when multiple chipsets attempt to communicate simultaneously. The multiple chipsets may be communicatively coupled to coordinate their communications by prioritizing certain types of communications over other types of communications to avoid simultaneous communications in overlapping frequencies. In this way, multiple chipsets that communicate using different standards at overlapping frequencies may avoid performance issues experienced in simultaneous use cases, while performing the communications which are of a highest priority level.

Abstract: Interference on a first wireless radio caused by operation of a second wireless radio in the same device may be reduced by reducing the transmission power of the second wireless radio. Signal strength data associated with the first wireless radio and isolation values associated with antennae used by the second wireless radio may be used to determine a target change in transmission power of the second wireless radio that would eliminate interference with the first wireless radio. Signal strength data associated with the second wireless radio and threshold data indicative of minimum signal strengths to maintain a threshold level of quality for the second wireless radio may be used to determine a maximum change in transmission power. The transmission power of the second wireless radio may be reduced by the lesser of the target amount or maximum amount.

Abstract: First data may be transmitted during a first timeslot of a transmission time period using a first wireless communication standard and second data may be transmitted during a second timeslot of the transmission time period using a second wireless communication standard. Based on change(s) to one or more characteristics associated with data transmitted using the first wireless communication standard, such as a change in the wireless profile or wireless protocol being used, a duration of the transmission time period may be adaptively increased and/or a duration of the first timeslot may be adaptively decreased. In either scenario, a duration of the second timeslot may increase. This increase in the duration of the second timeslot may result in an increase in a frame aggregation count associated with the second wireless communication standard, allowing more data frames to be aggregated into a single packet, thereby increasing packet length and data throughput.
