摘要: Methodology for voice-enabling an application minimizes code add-ons or code insertions. As an example, in applications used by a plurality of remote devices, the method may include dividing a master wordlist associated with the application into a plurality of wordlists respectively associated with the plurality of remote devices, and then converting the plurality of wordlists to a plurality of grammar lists respectively associated with the plurality of remote devices. Accordingly, the methodology voice enables applications with minimal alteration of the code of the applications.

摘要: A currency counter for counting currency notes withdrawn from a supply and advancing the notes one by one along a path past a density detector and a magnetic material detector to a stacker at a delivery location upon energization of a common drive motor in which an amplifier responsive to the density detector is automatically calibrated each time the counter starts and in which density and motor current signals are combined for doubles detection. The motor speed is adjusted for document length to provide a predetermined number of counts per minute. An adaptive counterfeit check is made. The motor is deenergized at the end of a batch count and momentarily reenergized to ensure that the last note of the batch is stacked.

摘要: Apparatus for accurately determining the width of a traveling document in which respective groups of LEDs are disposed along a line extending transversely of the path of document travel inwardly from points spaced by a distance greater than the maximum document width. The groups of LEDs and respective strip photodiodes associated therewith are disposed on opposite sides of the path so that a document travelling along the path partially blocks respective LEDs of said groups. The LEDs are sequentially energized one by one from one end of the group to the other. The completely unblocked energized LEDs are counted and the percent blocked of the partially blocked LED is determined to permit an accurate width measurement to be calculated.

摘要: Apparatus for counting and stacking sheets in which document length and multiple fed sheets are detected by examining sheet transmissivity. The light directed through moving sheets fed one at a time through a sensor location is modulated according to sheet transmissivity. The signal for each sheet is compared against the signal for the prior sheet to determine the feeding of multiple sheets. Sheet length is determined through the use of a pair of sensors which provide for counting of sheets which may be fed in a skewed manner. A skew value is used to modify the value obtained when measuring document length to permit accurate counting of both skewed and unskewed sheets. Both hardware and software techniques are utilized to obtain the desired results.

摘要: Sensors in the infeed and output stackers, under control of the microprocessor, monitor the sheets. The apparatus is started automatically by placing sheets in the infeed. A count of the sheets is developed and displayed as the sheets are fed. When the infeed is empty and the output contains sheets, the count is retained. If sheets are removed from the outfeed, the count is retained and is reset only after more sheets are placed in the input. The same rules obtain for batching. The sensors cooperate with singles, holes and doubles detectors and have their again adjusted depending upon sheet density. Automatic threshold adjustment circuits compensate for dust build-up and component aging. Upon sheet detection, the sensing circuit threshold level is instantaneously shifted to prevent an abrupt change in intensity from the sheet covering the sensor to provide an erroneous indication of the presence of a subsequent sheet or sheets. The sensors assure accurate counting even through sheets are fed in skewed and/or overlapping fashion. An amplifier normally in saturation is driven out of saturation when light intensity drops to increase the ability to determine the transmissivity to distinguish between single and double sheets. Operating speed may be reduced from normal speed. All timing is automatically readjusted according to the selected operating speed. The control circuitry may be coupled to and synchronized with a denominations counter and printer. The doubles detection circuit may also discriminate between two and three overlapped sheets.

摘要: A novel high voltage power supply is disclosed which generates an unregulated output voltage from a dc input voltage. The magnitude of the unregulated output voltage may exceed the magnitude of the applied dc voltage. This output voltage appears across a capacitor which is in series with an inductor and a switch. The dc voltage is applied across the inductor and switch, and the switch is periodically closed by an oscillator. While the switch is closed, the voltage across the capacitor increases from energy supplied by the dc voltage. When the switch is open, the voltage on the capacitor is further increased by energy that was stored in the inductor while the switch was closed. A sensing circuit controls the opening and closing of the switch. The high voltage power supply is especially adaptable for use with a display of the gas discharge or plasma type.
