Abstract: A method for controlling a bandwidth over a communication link connecting first and second client network elements. The first element is configured to send to the second element data traffic including at least a best effort traffic flow of packets. The method includes: at the first element, marking a number of best effort packets with a control code, the control code taking values within a predetermined ordered control sequence of values, and sending the marked packets to the second element through the link; at the second element, checking the control code of each marked best effort packet and, in case of detection of a missing value of the control code, sending to the first element a packet containing a feedback code indicative of an adjustment of the bandwidth; and, at the first element, upon reception of the feedback code, adjusting the bandwidth.

Abstract: A system for supporting a user in the selection of food includes a processing module that determines a diet pattern of the user. The diet pattern includes nutritional information related to a number of macronutrients or micronutrients or bioactive compounds into which food may be decomposed and corresponding values of daily intakes. The diet pattern includes a number of food rules, each food rule including at least one food category and, for each food category, a respective frequency of intake and a respective reference quantity of intake. The system receives from the user information indicating a target food, and computes a compliance score of the target food with the diet pattern and notifying the user of the compliance score.

Abstract: A method for monitoring packets in a communication network includes at an ingress point, classifying at least one packet of a traffic received at the ingress point for determining whether packets of the traffic are to be monitored and, in the affirmative, associating them with a service of monitoring; at the ingress point, creating a selection policy to identify a packet flow of the packets to be monitored according to the service of monitoring. The method also includes installing the selection policy at one or more measuring points within the communication network, and at each measuring point, identifying the packet flow on the basis of the selection policy. The method further includes at each measuring point, applying monitoring actions associated with the service of monitoring to the identified packet flow.

Abstract: A radio access network node of a telecommunication network and method, the node including: a system of radiating antennas radiating radio signals through a geographic territory, and a processor configured to execute computer-readable instructions to: obtain or generate a topographic map of the geographic territory; based on the topographic map, calculate a coverage map of radio coverage of the geographic territory by the radiated radio signals; based on the coverage map, shrink the topographic map to obtain a reduced-size topographic map; based on the calculated coverage map, create a first data structure including plural first data structure records, one for each point of the calculated coverage map, each first data structure records providing a description of a service delivery capability of the node in that point, and exploit the first data structure to decide how to serve user equipment located in the territory corresponding to the reduced-size topographic map.

Abstract: A method is proposed of arranging, in a mobile communication network, transmission of data between user equipment and a base station including a central unit and at least one remote unit associated therewith. The data includes information data and, associated with the information data, first control data substantially time-varying over a scheduling time period, and second control data substantially time-unvarying over the scheduling time period. The method includes at the central unit side, transmitting the information data and the first control data to the at least one remote unit, and at the at least one selected remote unit side, receiving the information data and the first control data from the central unit, generating the second control data, combining the generated second control data with the received information and first control data into the data, and transmitting the data to a selected user equipment.

Abstract: A method for sharing network resources made accessible by plural access gateways (AG). An AG requester sends a resource request to neighbouring AGs as potential helpers. Each potential helper decides whether to cooperate with the requester based on a reputation score calculated by the potential helper for the requester. The reputation score calculated by each potential helper for the requester is indicative of the requester's behaviour in response to past resource requests received from that potential helper. If the potential helper decides to cooperate, it sends a resource offer to the requester. The requester then selects its helper as the potential helper which sent the best offer, and sets up a resource sharing session with the helper. The requester then updates the reputations scores of a helper and potential helpers based on the disposition to cooperate and reliability they exhibited.

Abstract: A method for operating a mobile cellular network. including: for at least one cell of a plurality of cells of the mobile cellular network: determining a radio interference affecting the cell in at least one between uplink and downlink transmissions; and if the radio interference affecting the cell is higher than a threshold radio interference, setting the cell in a first condition for preventing any user equipment using the mobile cellular network from camping on it for the at least one between uplink and downlink transmissions; or if the radio interference affecting the cell is lower than said threshold radio interference, setting the cell in a second condition for allowing any user equipment of the mobile cellular network to camp on it for the at least one between uplink and downlink transmissions.
