Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The described techniques provide for securing communications in a wireless communications system. A base station may determine a value that one or more user equipments (UEs) are to use for deriving a secret key for use in securing communications. A UE may use a security key generation procedure to determine the value and derive the key. According to the security key generation procedure, the UE may transmit a sounding reference signal using a first antenna of a plurality of antennas configured at the UE. The UE may then select and use the first antenna for receiving a downlink reference signal in accordance with the security key generation procedure. The UE may derive a security key using a value associated with the downlink reference signal and communicate with the base station via communications that are secured using the derived security key.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for joint sensing and data communication. A first sensing signal and a second sensing signal are transmitted in sequence, from a transmitter and using the same carrier frequency, for combined processing by a receiver. In some implementations, the sensing signals are radar signals. Data communication during an intervening time period between the first sensing signal and the second sensing signal involves the transmitter sending a data communication signal to another device or vice versa. Phase continuity between the first sensing signal and the second sensing signal can be maintained through performing radio frequency (RF) tuning on the transmitter after the transmitter transmits the data communication signal. The RF tuning may involve storing and restoring an operating state of a power amplifier in the transmitter. Alternatively, phase continuity can be maintained through preventing the transmitter from transmitting over an entirety of the intervening time period.

Abstract: Disclosed are techniques related to wireless communication system in which a network node (e.g., a base station, gNB, etc.) may be allowed to puncture a reference signal (RS) to deliver high priority data (e.g., URLLC data) to a user equipment (UE) that is not currently being served by the network node. The RS may comprise a puncturable subset and an unpuncturable subset. The puncturable subset may comprise resources of the RS that are allowed to be punctured, and the unpuncturable subset may comprise resources of the RS that are prohibited from being punctured. The network node may transmit the RS such that unpuncturable subset indicates whether or not the puncturable subset of the RS has or has not been punctured. In this way, the network node can quickly inform whether or not the RS has been punctured to carry high priority data.
