Abstract: A first method for wireless communications may comprise determining sizes of payloads of user equipments (UEs), determining whether to multiplex the payloads of the UEs based on the sizes of the payloads, and allocating codes or cyclic shifts to the UEs to transmit the payloads on a single interlace of resources. A second method for wireless communications may comprise determining a first code or a first cyclic shift used for a first transmission using an interlace of resources, and allocating second codes or second cyclic shifts to UEs for a second transmission, where the second transmission may be multiplexed with the first transmission on the interlace of resources. A third method for wireless communications may comprise allocating a first interlace of resources for a first transmission for occupying an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band, and allocating a second interlace of resources, occupied by a base station, for a second transmission.

Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. One method includes identifying a first set of resources for a first uplink transmission. The first set of resources is based on a first set of frequency resource interlaces and a first set of frequency resource interlace segments. Each frequency resource interlace segment of the first set of frequency resource interlace segments includes a portion of resources of the frequency resource interlaces of the first set of frequency resource interlaces. The method also includes communicating on an uplink using the first set of resources.

Abstract: Described techniques provide for switching a user equipment (UE) between different coverage enhancement (CE) modes, such as between a non-CE mode and a CE mode. A UE may determine that a CE mode switch is to be performed and may initiate the mode switching. The UE may compare signal qualities of signals from one or more base stations against one or more threshold values and determine that a switch from a CE mode to a non-CE mode, or from a non-CE to CE mode, is to be performed. In some cases, a UE may be in idle mode and switch between CE modes, or may perform a cell reselection to a different base station. In other cases, a UE may be in connected mode and may declare a radio link failure to initiate a mode switch. A base station may initiate mode switching based on radio link monitoring of UEs.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described techniques provide for the identification of a sequence of beamforming parameters that are used for communications between a user equipment (UE) and a base station using a sequence of transmission beams. A UE may measure received reference signals that are transmitted in a series of downlink transmission beams from a base station, and report measurement parameters associated with the downlink transmission beams to the base station as part of a beam tracking and beam refinement procedure. The base station may provide transmission configuration indicator (TCI) states that are associated with each transmission beam. The TCI states may be recorded over a course of a periodic movement of the UE, and may be used deterministically to identify beamforming parameters for transmission and reception of a subsequent series of downlink transmission beams when the UE makes a subsequent same periodic movement.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Some wireless communications systems may support multi-band operation. Different frequency bands may experience different communication characteristics (e.g., frequency-dependent fading), which may result in undesirable interference patterns and/or coverage gaps. The described techniques provide for a network architecture that optimizes throughput while considering interference metrics. The network architecture may in some cases adapt to changes in the communication environment (e.g., dynamically or semi-statically), and the adaptation may be autonomous or may be performed in conjunction with a coordinating entity. Additionally, the described techniques provide for improved mobility procedures for devices within the network, which may improve throughput, reduce latency, or otherwise benefit the wireless communications system.

Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. A first method includes transmitting a first signal to indicate accessing a first channel in a radio frequency spectrum band, and transmitting information with the first signal in the radio frequency spectrum band. Abstract: An apparatus may use inactive uplink portions of a downlink CC to transmit SRS to an eNB. At times there may be a collision between the SRS transmission and uplink transmissions or downlink transmissions on another CC. The apparatus receives a carrier aggregation configuration for a first downlink CC and a second CC, determines to transmit an uplink transmission on the second CC or to receive a downlink transmission on the second CC, determines that the SRS would at least partially collide with the uplink transmission or the downlink transmission, and determines to adjust at least one of the uplink transmission, the SRS transmission, or reception of the downlink transmission based on the determination of the collision and an interruption time to transmit the SRS in the uplink portion of the first CC.

Abstract: A sharing of common hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process space by multiple unlicensed spectrum component carriers is described. Because communication access is not guaranteed over the unlicensed spectrum, a set of component carriers in the unlicensed spectrum is assigned to share a common HARQ process space, such that uplink or downlink data will be transmitted over any one or more of the set of component carriers that clear a clear channel assessment (CCA) check. The receiver then provides a HARQ process response over the same HARQ process space using the grouped component carriers that share that common HARQ process space. Thus, any one or more of the set of component carriers sharing the common HARQ process space may both carry the transmitted data and carry the HARQ process response to the attempted data transmission.

A user equipment (UE) may receive a semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) configuration message from a base station, the SPS configuration message containing at least one SPS parameter for downlink SPS communications over a shared radio frequency spectrum band. The UE may identify, based on the SPS configuration, one or more subframes or slots allocated for the downlink SPS communications. The UE may perform the downlink SPS communications during the one or more subframes or slots and according to the SPS configuration.
