Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE may be configured to communicate with a base station in a discontinuous reception (DRX) mode according to a DRX cycle. The UE may receive signaling that indicates a configuration of a ramp window associated with the DRX cycle. The ramp window may include a set of slots that is adjacent to a sleep window of the DRX cycle and, in some examples, is adjacent to an on-window of the DRX cycle. The set of slots may include a first subset of wakeup slots and a second subset of sleep slots. During the ramp window, the UE may monitor for a transport block from the base station during the first subset of wakeup slots. If the UE receives the transport block during a wakeup slot, the UE may transition to the on-window of the DRX cycle.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may map a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) sequence to a first symbol in a set of resource blocks (RBs) of an uplink long burst, and the first symbol may occur at the beginning of the uplink long burst. The DMRS sequence may be “front-loaded” in the uplink long burst. The DMRS sequence may be dependent upon RB locations. When the DMRS sequence is mapped to the beginning of an uplink long burst, uplink control information (UCI) may be mapped in a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH). A UE may map UCI in a PUSCH after the DMRS sequence is mapped to the beginning of the uplink long burst. When the base station receives an uplink long burst including the front-loaded DMRS and the UCI mapped in the PUSCH, the base station may identify the DMRS for channel estimation/interference cancelation of the UCI carried on the PUSCH.

In some systems, a base station may configure multiple types of resources at a user equipment (UE) for interference management processing at the UE in examples in which the base station employs a non-linear precoding technique. The multiple types of resources configured by the base station may include a first resource type configured for measuring channel gain at the UE, a second resource type configured for measuring non-linear interference at the UE arising from lower-layer data streams, and a third resource type configured for measuring linear interference at the UE arising from higher-layer data streams. The base station may transmit one or more reference signals to the UE over each of the multiple resource types and the UE may determine both a non-linear interference measurement and a linear interference measurement based on receiving the reference signals.

Abstract: A configurable new radio (NR) RACH procedure that may be executed by a UE and a base station is disclosed. A configuration to determine, by a user equipment, a random access procedure timeline, from multiple random access procedure timelines that each define a different duration between one or more messages that are communicated in a random access procedure can be determined or transmitted. A random access preamble can be received from the UE based on the random access procedure timeline, and a response to the random access preamble can be determined or transmitted based on the random access procedure timeline.

Abstract: Aspects are provided which allow a user equipment (UE) to identify a low-bandwidth (low-BW) CORESET-0 and associated CSS based on reception bandwidth of the UE. The base station may configure different frequency and time-domain resources of the low-BW CORESET in order to optimize resource utilization of the low-BW CORESET-0, and the low-tier UE may identify these resources of CORESET-0 and CSS from the system configuration information received in a master information block (MIB). As a result, low tier UEs may operate in a same cell as legacy UEs without the need for the base station to transmit additional signaling to either legacy UEs or lower tier UEs for the UEs to receive their respective CORESET-0's and identify a physical downlink channel (PDCCH).
