Abstract: A method, an apparatus, a base station, a user equipment (UE), and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The base station may encode a wakeup signal so that a preamble of the wakeup signal indicates whether the wakeup signal is relevant to the UE. The UE may select a technique for detecting the wakeup signal based at least in part on a partial, full, or no synchronization. In some aspects, the wakeup signal may be encoded with a system frame number. In some aspects, wakeup signals for guardband/standalone UEs are provided. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, a user equipment (UE) may send a capabilities report to a base station. The capabilities report may include an explicit indication that the UE is capable of receiving a maximum layer radio resource control (RRC) parameter, or may include ambiguous (e.g., multiple) capabilities. The base station may receive the capabilities report, and may determine whether to transmit a maximum layer RRC parameter based on the explicit indication, or the ambiguous capabilities, which indicates a maximum number of layers to be used for subsequent communications. If the UE is capable of receiving the maximum layer RRC parameter, the base station may send the maximum layer RRC parameter to the UE, and may perform wireless communications according to the indicated maximum number of layers.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may obtain access to a base station by performing an initial access procedure within an initial access bandwidth that contains control channel resources. The UE may receive a configuration of a downlink bandwidth part (BWP) following the initial access procedure, and may determine that the downlink BWP fully contains the initial access bandwidth. In some cases, the UE may make the determination based on an indication sent from the base station. For instance, the indication may be provided as part of one or more control channel configurations transmitted to the UE. Based on determining that the downlink BWP fully contains the initial access bandwidth, the UE may monitor for control information in the downlink BWP using control channel resources in the downlink BWP that correspond to control channel resources used in the initial access bandwidth.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may be configured to determine a priority indicator for an upcoming transmission between the UE and a base station and transmit the priority indicator to the base station. The base station may receive the priority indicator, determine a network condition, and may transmit control information for a downlink transmission. The control information may include an indication of a set of modulation and coding schemes to select from a plurality of sets of modulation and coding schemes and an index value for an entry in the selected set of modulation and coding scheme, where the indication is based on the priority indicator and a network condition. The UE may identify a combination of a modulation order and a code rate for the downlink transmission based on the indication of modulation and coding scheme table and the index value.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A base station may select a two sets of reference signal resource elements (REs) for a symbol period, where each RE of the first set is contiguous to an RE of the second set. The base station may also identify resource element groups (REGs) for control signaling, where each REG covers one or more resource blocks (RBs). The base station may then perform interference cancellation, which may be based on an interference covariance matrix for each of the REGs. In some cases, the base station may coordinate with neighboring base stations (directly or through the core network) to ensure that the selected REGs do not partially overlap with reference signal transmissions or REGs of neighboring base stations.

In some aspects, an access terminal may support a particular frame structure for a low power mode. Accordingly, scheduling of the access terminal may include use of the particular frame structure during low power mode.

Abstract: Different sets of downlink control information (DCI) fields may be configured for DCI that includes an indication to trigger bandwidth part switching at a user equipment (UE). For example, a UE may receive DCI that triggers the UE to switch operation from a first bandwidth part to a second bandwidth part. The UE may also identify a set of transformable DCI fields and a set of non-transformable DCI fields within the DCI. The UE may then determine updated content of the DCI for application to the second bandwidth part based on whether DCI fields are included in the set of transformable or the set of non-transformable fields. In some cases, the UE may identify a null assignment in the received DCI and may switch its operation from the first bandwidth part to the second bandwidth part based on the null assignment.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide a scheduling entity for facilitating Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) wireless communication by dynamically assigning ranks to scheduled entities for each sub-band of a slot. In some examples, the rank assigned to a particular scheduled entity may be increased or decreased between sub-bands of the slot based on the amount of scheduled user data traffic for that particular scheduled entity relative to the amount of scheduled user data traffic for other scheduled entities. The scheduling entity further schedules resources within the sub-bands of the slot based on the assigned ranks and transmits an enhanced control channel providing scheduling information indicating the scheduled resources to the scheduled entities.
