Abstract: A method and system for dynamic storage scaling based on automatically parallelizing access of names and data across multiple nodes or micro object stores (MOSs) is provided. A dynamic storage scaling device cluster is provisioned for a particular level of parallelism (e.g., N MOSs) when the cluster is created. The N MOSs may initially reside in a few physical servers (e.g., one server). When the data distribution causes peak resource usage of the physical servers, new server(s) can be added. Some micro object stores (MOSs) are moved to the new physical server(s) through a meiosis process. The storage devices associated with the moved MOSs are unmounted from the original servers and mounted to the new server(s). The meiosis continues until the cluster grows to full capacity. The scaling is dynamic and efficient since no data copy is involved in the meiosis and the initial resource cost is optimized.

Abstract: An adaptive idle detection method determines whether software defined data centers (SDDCs) in a hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) environment are idle. Idleness may be quantified via a coefficient of variation (CV) against resource usage, so as to adapt the idle detection method to SDDCs with different hardware specifications and workloads. Management overhead may also be filtered out by the idle detection method, and the idle detection method may use idleness scores to further reduce overhead.

Abstract: Generating and/or utilizing image shortcuts that cause one or more corresponding computer actions to be performed in response to determining that one or more features are present in image(s) from a camera of a computing device of a user (e.g., present in a real-time image feed from the camera). An image shortcut can be generated in response to user interface input, such as a spoken command. For example, the user interface input can direct the automated assistant to perform one or more actions in response to object(s) having certain feature(s) being present in a field of view of the camera. Subsequently, when the user directs their camera at object(s) having such feature(s), the assistant application can cause the action(s) to be automatically performed. For example, the assistant application can cause data to be presented and/or can control a remote device in accordance with the image shortcut.
