摘要: An active pixel sensor imaging device comprises array of pixel cells, each pixel cell providing a pixel output signal to a signal output line associated therewith. Each pixel cell comprises a photosensor having at least two independent portions, each independent portion having a sensor output; and, a separate readout circuit coupled to the sensor output of each independent portion. Each separate readout circuit has an output coupled to the signal output line and each separate readout circuit is capable of generating an output signal at the output. The outputs of the separate readout circuits for the pixel cell are connected such that the output signals are combined in an additive manner to produce the pixel output signal. Hardware and software correction methods are provided for the correction of defective pixels in monochromatic and color imaging systems.

摘要: An imaging circuit using an asymmetric comparator to detect an oversaturated pixel is disclosed. The comparator employs a transistor differential pair which are fabricated to be slightly unbalanced. By varying the channel widths of the two transistors during fabrication, the voltage required to trigger the comparator can be raised or lowered as desired to set an oversaturation level which triggers the comparator.

摘要: A closed circuit television surveillance system of the type used with a dome housing includes a camera which can be scanned with respect to pan and tilt axes. The camera is capable of scanning almost 180null about the tilt axis. As the camera passes the vertical position, the image scan of the camera is flipped electronically so that the image on the monitor appears right-side up even though the camera position has changed to up-side down after it passes the vertical position.

摘要: Large area cameras that sense light using charge coupled devices are provided. The large area cameras have a scintillator that senses short wavelength (e.g. x-rays) radiation and provides light at a longer wavelength. Optical fibers transmit the light to charge coupled devices arranged in an MnullN array. Subsets of the image signals can be summed together to increase signal strength and frame rate. The image signals can be amplified and digitized to accomplish image reconstruction in near-real time for a plurality of CCDs. To accomplish image reconstruction in near-real time for a plurality of CCDs, the digitized signals for one image frame are stored in first memory circuits, while image signals from another frame are read out of second memory circuits. The image signal are written into and read out of the memory circuits in configurations that are independent of the orientation of the CCDs within the CCD array. The image reconstruction circuitry can simultaneously read and write signals into memory at different rates, typically reading faster than writing.

摘要: In an imaging apparatus, a function whose value increases in time is used as a threshold electric-signal level, and an electric-signal level of a photoreceptor element is compared with the threshold electric-signal level. Even if a light received by the photoreceptor element has a low luminance, the electric-signal level of the photoreceptor element crosses the threshold electric-signal level in a short time, allowing calculation of the amount of optical energy received by the photoreceptor element. Furthermore, when an object having a region where brightness changes in time and also having a region with a low luminance is imaged, imaging interval is changed in accordance with luminance. Accordingly, information regarding how the brightness of the object is rapidly changing in time can be obtained more precisely, and an image can be output without making a projection image of the dark region completely black.

摘要: A solid-state imager 20 outputs image signals corresponding to picture elements received from light-receptive areas thereof. A sample-and-hold circuit 24 performs a sample-and-hold operation for the image signals at prescribed times. A driving circuit 22 generates driving pulses and sample-and-hold pulses. A horizontal charge-transfer circuit of each light-receptive area is driven with the driving pulses, and the sample-and-hold circuit 24 is driven with the sample-and-hold pulses in synchronization with the driving pulses. The driving circuit 22 intermittently drives the horizontal charge-transfer circuit and the sample-and-hold circuit after the output of at least one of the first and last image signals. Consequently, noise that would be produced in picture elements located at the junctures between adjoining light-receptive areas can be reduced, and loss of image quality that would be caused by the effects of operations in subsequent processes performed in various circuits can be reduced.

摘要: A photographing apparatus includes a photographing plan memory for setting photographing conditions based on a predetermined photographing plan, a vibration sensor for detecting vibration caused by an explosion of a balloon serving as a photographic subject, and a trigger generating circuit for taking in the timing of detection by the vibration sensor as a trigger. The above photographing plan is prepared beforehand for changing from low-speed photography to high-speed photography in response to the trigger, and changing from high-speed photography to low-speed photography after acquiring null40 framesnull. With this plan, the low-speed photography is adopted before and after the balloon explosion, an amount of photographic data tends to be small. Photographs may be taken out within limited photographic data, even with a limited memory capacity. At a moment of balloon explosion, rapid variations due to the explosion may be photographed by high-speed photography with high accuracy.

摘要: In a rear surface incidence type CMOS image sensor having a wiring layer 720 on a first surface (front surface) of an epitaxial substrate 710 in which a photodiode, a reading circuit (an n-type region 750 and an nnull type region 760) and the like are disposed, and a light receiving plane in a second surface (rear surface), the photodiode and a P-type well region 740 on the periphery of the photodiode are disposed in a layer structure that does not reach the rear surface (light receiving surface) of the substrate, and an electric field is formed within the substrate 710 to properly lead electrons entering from the rear surface (light receiving surface) of the substrate to the photodiode. The electric field is realized by providing a concentration gradient in a direction of depth of the epitaxial substrate 710. Alternatively, the electric field can be realized by providing a rear-surface electrode 810 or 840 for sending a current.
