A transporter for removing an offshore platform has an oblong structure with a U-shaped cross section, rotatable by ballasting. The transporter is adapted to remove and carry both a jacket and a topsides simultaneously.

The method for removing or positioning a structure (103) which is erected on either an underwater bed or anchored to the underwater bed entails the use of a hoisting mechanism. When the structure (103) is being removed, it is detached from the underwater bed. Then, the structure (103) is connected to a hoisting mechanism which is arranged on a separate hoisting vessel (100). The structure is hoisted up by the hoisting mechanism and is attached to a transport vessel (1) in such a manner that it can tilt about a horizontal axis. Then, the structure is tilted into a substantially horizontal position. The structure is positioned in the reverse order.

A sailboat with a planning hull and a mast stepped aft of amidship. The mail sail and foresails are loose footed and attached to a midstay and forestay respectively. The mast is angled towards the rear of the boat and the resultant configuration eliminates the downward force conventional sail configuration imparts on the sailboat. The sailboat has a keel however does not use ballast.

A multifunctional operating unit which in the nautical field is used to produce electric power. Advantageously this unit is provided with one or more containers associated with an internal combustion engine, wherein sea water coming from outboard circulates. In this manner it is possible to achieve a compact unit wherein the engine actuates directly a desalination pump and/or the compressor of an aboard air conditioning system, whose condenser may be accommodated in the container.

An improved control system for a sailing vessel for controlling the position of the sail and the rudder, and affixed to a slidable seat apparatus. A movement of the seat apparatus does not alter the position of the sail or the rudder. A ballast control, steering control and sail control are located on the slidable seat apparatus. The slidable seat apparatus provides a ballast control means using the helmsperson's weight and the seat itself as movable ballast. Furthermore, the steering control and the sail controls are mounted to the movable seat and are operable independently and simultaneously with the movement of the seat. A base provides a base connection means for the seat, and in the case of a multi-hull embodiment of the sailboat, the base is substantially in the form of a scissoring “X” shape. The scissoring base functions as both a connecting means and a means to adjust the distance between the hulls for operation or storage. The connection of the scissoring base to the hulls provides a longitudinal adjustment of the entire control apparatus relative to the hulls.

A wind powered air/water interface craft disposed in a mechanically simple configuration(s) with means for trimming and/or adjusting the area of the various air and water foil elements either independently or together or both. All of its structural elements are useful as lifting or-driving surfaces or buoyant elements thereby minimizing parasitic drag and conflicting forces. In some configurations, free flight is also possible for brief periods of time or for longer periods in conditions where dynamic soaring is possible. The rig is able to develop vertical lift before necessarily having forward motion. Although similar in some configurations to a windsurfer, its operation is not dependent on the strength of the human operator, so that it has the capacity for power and payload greater than the strength and weight of the operator. The triangle rig configuration of the invention may develop vertical lift, but may in some instances use vertical lift only to enhance dynamic stability of a displacement craft. A wide beam single hull ship uses triangle rig sails to augment the ship's engines.

An autonomous marine vehicle is disclosed, the vehicle comprising a rigid hull having an interior and a periphery, a deck joining the rigid hull at the periphery; and a rigid mast pivotally attached to the deck, the mast housing a plurality of sensors capable of effecting communication to and from said vehicle. In preferred embodiments, the vehicle further comprises various sensors and mission-specific hardware. Sensors include mast-mounted audio/video devices, radar, GPS and RF antennas, and other positioning and collision avoidance devices. Mission-specific hardware include refueling probes, fire protection systems, towing assemblies, flame thrower assemblies, liquid spray assemblies, and work pup assemblies.

Kayak comprising: a rigid base in several sections end to end joined to one another in a water-tight hinge-mounting so that they can be folded one on top of the other; a rigid keel in several sections spanning the hinge-mountings of the base sections and retained in brackets fixed to said base sections; two pneumatically inflatable sides joined at the base to the longitudinal edges of the rigid base; a covering canvas joined to the respective top longitudinal edges of the two inflatable sides and having at least one opening for a user; a seat located under this opening; and at least one rigid tensioning frame arranged to the rear of the opening and designed to brace the base, the inflatable sides and the covering canvas.

A multi-purpose sailing kit assembly including at least one, and preferably two separate hulls. Each of the hulls further includes first and second elongated, buoyant and self-contained halves which are pivotally secured together along a longitudinal direction. Each of the pairs of hull halves further include first and second longitudinal and perpendicularly extending planar surfaces such that the halves may be converted from a first cross sectional profile to a second cross sectional profile. Coupling mechanisms are provided for engaging within selectively formed circular openings in the planar surfaces of the hull halves and locking engage the hull halves together in the desired cross sectional profile. A frame is provided and secures first and second convertible hulls together in a spaced manner or, alternatively, supports outriggers in a spaced manner relative to a single hull. A sailing mast is capable of being mounted to a location of the upwardly facing surface of a selected hull halve or to a specified location along the frame.
