Abstract: The present invention discloses a file storage system including an object storage for storing data blocks for a client, a merge index database to store metadata corresponding to the stored data blocks using a merge index, a cloudcache located on a premise of the client, and a cloudcache implementation module communicatively coupled to the object storage, the cloudcache and the merge index database. The cloudcache implementation module facilitates data backup and restore operations for the client in accordance with a data retention policy, where one or more data blocks are stored on the cloudcache and a sync operation is performed between the cloudcache and the object storage. A backup of the data blocks is performed to the cloudcache in a backup operation, data blocks are compacted, and a restore operation for data blocks stored on the cloudcache are performed in accordance with the data retention policy.

Abstract: One example method includes accessing a point-in-time copy including retention locked backups that were stored on a backup storage server at a time the point-in-time copy was generated. The method further includes accessing a current namespace including retention locked backups that are currently stored on the backup storage server. Each retention locked backup includes data backup files. The method also includes determining a first set of retention locked backups that are included in the point-in-time copy, but are not included in the current namespace. The method finally includes copying the first set of retention locked backups from the point-in-time copy into the current namespace without removing any of the retention locked backups already in the current namespace.

Abstract: A system and method for securing virtual cloud assets in a cloud computing environment against cyber threats. The method includes: determining a location of a snapshot of at least one virtual disk of a protected virtual cloud asset, wherein the virtual cloud asset is instantiated in the cloud computing environment; accessing the snapshot of the virtual disk based on the determined location; analyzing the snapshot of the protected virtual cloud asset to detect potential cyber threats risking the protected virtual cloud asset; and alerting detected potential cyber threats based on a determined priority.

Abstract: Techniques for data recovery involve determining, based on a relationship between a missing inode in an inode table and a data logical address in an extension table, whether the inode is a target inode that is able to be recovered. The techniques further involve acquiring, in response to a determination that the inode is the target inode, associated data corresponding to the target inode. The techniques further involve recovering the inode based on the acquired associated data. Accordingly, volume-level data loss can be avoided, a data loss rate of a storage product can be reduced, and user satisfaction can be enhanced.

Abstract: Restoring a clustered database having a plurality of nodes each having database from a failed storage device by receiving a request to restore a backup image of a failed shared storage device associated with the clustered database to a time; performing a preflight check including at least one checklist process; terminating the restore when any checklist process fails; when each checklist process succeeds completing the restore by creating at least one flashcopy associated with the backup image, mapping to each of the plurality of nodes an associated portion of the at least one flashcopy, mounting the at least one flashcopy to the node as a diskgroup, and switching the clustered database to run from the diskgroup.

Abstract: A method for consolidating backup status data associated with backup operations performed at a specialty backup service platform into a centralized backup service platform may be provided. The method may include receiving data feeds associated with each backup operation, each data feed comprising backup status data associated with a backup operation performed at the specialty backup service platform. The method may also include extracting the backup status data from each data feed and following the extracting, conforming the backup status data at the centralized backup service platform to be consistent with the standardized format. The method may also include for each data feed received from the specialty backup service platform, running a performance-scan on the backup status data within the data feed for determining whether the backup operation was a success or a failure.

Abstract: A data management system may support techniques for immutable storage of snapshot data entities, which may each include data corresponding to one or more snapshots, in a cloud environment. The data management system may determine respective retention periods and respective immutability periods for the snapshot data entities. The data management system may extend the respective immutability period for a first snapshot data entity based on the respective retention period for the first snapshot data entity being greater than or equal to a threshold duration. Additionally or alternatively, the data management system may maintain (refrain from extending) the respective immutability period for a second snapshot data entity based at least in part on the respective retention period for the second snapshot data entity being less than the threshold duration.

Abstract: A data management system (DMS) may facilitate an investigation procedure for a set of one or more virtual machines (VMs) hosted in a first environment. The DMS may receive an indication of a selection of one or more sets of VMs and corresponding snapshots for the investigation procedure. The corresponding snapshots may be stored in a second environment, and each snapshot may be associated with a version of a respective set of VMs. The DMS may mount the one or more sets of VMs to one or more testing environments different than the first and second environments. The mounting may use the snapshots stored in the second environment to provide the testing environments with query access to respective versions of the sets of VMs hosted in the first environment. The DMS may perform query operations between the first environment and the testing environments as part of the investigation procedure.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for data management are described. A data management system may receive a request to generate backup data for a set of data files from the one or more databases. The data management system may then generate, in response to the request, a file including a set of partitions including respective groups of shard files that correspond to respective groups of data files from among the set of data files. In some examples, a respective group of shard files within a partition of the set of partitions may include a first shard file representative of metadata for the partition and one or more additional shard files representative of the respective group of data files for the partition. The data management system may then distribute the respective groups of shard files to a set of nodes within the distributed backup system.

Abstract: A file-level snapshot access service provides direct access to individual files included in a snapshot for virtual volume of a block-storage service without requiring a volume to be re-created from the snapshot, attached to a computing device, or mounted in a file system. For example, a user/client may directly retrieve individual files from specified snapshots via a user interface/API of the file-level snapshot access service. Additionally, the file-level snapshot access service is configured to provide a listing of files included in a given snapshot. In some embodiments, a file-level snapshot access service may provide direct access to individual files included in snapshots generated for other types of storage systems, such as an object-based storage system.
