Abstract:
This invention discloses a wood preservative composition for the supplemental or remedial treatment of in-service poles, posts, piling, cross ties and other wooden structures. The wood preservative composition comprises a slow-release micronized copper compound in combination with a boron compound or a fluoride compound.
Abstract:
Disclosed are curable aqueous coating compositions comprising at least one polyurethane (A) as binder, at least one laminar metallic effect pigment (B), and at least one inorganic thickener C1) selected from the group of the phyllosilicates, and at least one organic thickener C2) selected from the group of the (meth)acrylic acid-(meth)acrylate copolymer thickeners and polyurethane thickeners, where the amount of B), based on the total binder content of the coating material composition is >9% by weight, the total solids based on the coating material composition is between 12.5% and 17% by weight, the total amount of the thickeners C1 and C2), based on the total binder content of the coating composition is 0.4, and the amount of B), based on the coating material composition, is between 1.2 and 2.3% by weight.
Abstract:

Abstract:
Disclosed are methods for treating metal substrates that include contacting the metal with pretreatment compositions comprising: (a) a group IIIB metal, a group IVB metal and/or a group VB metal; and (b) a rheology modifier composition.
Abstract:
A painting apparatus comprising a paint module, an applicator assembly, and a dip-tube assembly containing a pump, the paint module having a container receiving section which is closeable by a releasably attachable lid, the applicator assembly being fluidly connectable to liquid in the container receiving section via the dip-tube assembly, in which the lid includes an aperture to allow the dip-tube assembly to pass therethrough and submerge the pump in the liquid (FIG. 1).
Abstract:
A painting apparatus comprising a paint module, an applicator assembly having an applicator surface, and a pump, the paint module having a container receiving section, the applicator assembly being fluidly connectable to the container receiving section such that the pump can supply liquid contained in the container receiving section to the applicator assembly, in which the apparatus can operate in a painting cycle where the container receiving section receives a paint container with a supply of paint such that the paint can be supplied to the applicator assembly, and in a cleaning cycle where the container receiving section receives a liquid in the form of a cleaning fluid, such that the cleaning fluid can be supplied to the applicator assembly (FIG. 1).
Abstract:
A method of preparing a coating composition. The method comprises preparing a mixture that includes a releasing agent, thickening agents, and vinyl acetate-acrylic copolymer. Another embodiment is a method of forming a film, comprising, providing the coating composition and applying the coating composition to a surface. Another embodiment is a protective coating comprising a film, that includes the coating composition, applied to a surface of a manufactured product.
Abstract:
Starch(es) and starch derivatives are combined together with at least one high-viscosity cellulose as a thickener in dispersion binder-based color systems. The cellulose has a viscosity of >50,000 mPa·s, measured by the Brookfield rotation viscometer as a 2% swollen aqueous solution at 5 rpm and 25° C. A method produces dispersion binder-based color systems and a dispersion color thickener combination and a dispersion color containing the dispersion color thickener combination.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a composition which, when mixed with a polymer composition, allows for the formation of a continuous and cohesive film. The film is characterized in that it provides water, grease and oil resistance, provides a water vapour barrier and can be used as wax replacement treatment and a top coat for flexible packaging, but also on other substrates. This film is formed at a very fast set speed without the need of thermal energy. The composition contains i) a salt of one or more of myristic, palmitic and stearic acid; and preferably also ii) a C9-C18 fatty acid complex of a metal ion, said metal ion having an oxidation state of at least 3. The invention also provides processes and coated substrates.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the use of a synergistic mixture of water-soluble polymers with thickening action and hydrophobins for thickening aqueous phases, and to the degradation of the thickening action by cleaving the protein. The invention further relates to a thickening composition of water-soluble polymers, hydrophobins and water.
