摘要:
Thermodynamically-unstable complexing agents which are diphosphonic acids and diphosphonic acid derivatives (or sulphur containing analogs), like carboxyhydroxymethanediphosphonic acid and vinylidene-1,1-diphosphonic acid, are capable of complexing with metal ions, and especially metal ions in the II, III, IV, V and VI oxidation states, to form stable, water-soluble metal ion complexes in moderately alkaline to highly-acidic media. However, the complexing agents can be decomposed, under mild conditions, into non-organic compounds which, for many purposes are environmentally-nondamaging compounds thereby degrading the complex and releasing the metal ion for disposal or recovery. Uses for such complexing agents as well as methods for their manufacture are also described.

A continuous process is indicated for complete removal of organic impurities from and complete decolorization of pre-purified wet-process phosphoric acid which has been purified by an extractive method using an organic solvent, freed from residual hydrofluoric acid by steam stripping and treated with hydrogen peroxide at elevated temperature, which comprises mixing the pre-purified wet-process phosphoric acid and the hydrogen peroxide in a mixing zone at a temperature of from 100.degree. to 200.degree. C., preferably 140.degree. to 160.degree. C., and allowing them to react at this temperature for a further 1 to 4 hours, cooling to from 85.degree. to 90.degree. C. the pre-purified wet-process phosphoric acid treated in this way and pumping it at this temperature with exclusion of air firstly through an activated charcoal bed which has been prepared on the basis of peat and has been steam-activated and has a BET surface area of from 800 to 1000 m.sup.2 /g, and subsequently through a silicon carbide and/or graphite bed while maintaining a pumping rate of less than 0.5 m.sup.3 /h of wet-process phosphoric acid per m.sup.3 of activated charcoal bed.

Phosphoric acid substantially free from titanium is made from the organic extract obtained by subjecting crude phosphoric acid containing titanium to extractive purification with an organic solvent immiscible or only partially miscible with water. To this end, the organic extract is scrubbed in a scrubbing zone with a stage number of n>4 by introducing the crude extract into stage 1 and scrubbing it countercurrently with an aqueous alkaline solution in one of stages 2 to n-2 and with pure scrubbing water in stage n.

Crude wet-process phosphoric acid is purified by treating a dilute such acid with a molybdenum value reducing amount of hydrogen sulfide or of a sulfide which in situ forms hydrogen sulfide, to afford a purified acid adopted for the production of food grade phosphoric acid, and which has a content in heavy metal and molybdenum values of less than 10 ppm.

This invention provides a process for removal of residual organic matter from wet process phosphoric acid purified by solvent extraction with a volatile solvent that comprises contacting said purified phosphoric acid with hydrogen peroxide at a temperature between about 100.degree. C. and about 150.degree. C., for between 1/4 hour and about 4 hours, and using a weight ratio of hydrogen peroxide to phosphoric acid between about 0.001 and about 0.05.

The invention relates to the decontamination of wet-processed phosphoric acid with the use of organic solvents in a plurality of extraction zones, of which each is comprised of a mixing zone and a separating zone, the solvent being immiscible or partially miscible with water. Resulting organic phase and the aqueous phase are contacted countercurrently with respect to one another, the organic solvent phase being dispersed in the aqueous phase. To this end, the invention provides for the aqueous phase to be admitted to the mixing zone at the onset of the extraction, and for organic phase and aqueous phase to be continuously admitted in a volume ratio of at least 2.5:1 to the respective extracting zones in an overall quantity sufficient to provide, in the mixing zones of the extraction zones, a volume ratio of organic phase to aqueous phase of at most 1:1, which is maintained therein.

A continuous process for removing sulfate ions from a substantially water-insoluble organic phase containing phosphoric acid and sulfuric acid is described. The organic phase is treated countercurrently in a first zone with an aqueous solution originating in a third contact zone, the organic phase issuing from the first zone is treated in a second zone with an aqueous solution containing barium ions, then the resultant organic phase is treated in a third zone with water. The aqueous phase exiting from the second zone is separated from the BaSO.sub.4 precipitate, recharged with barium and recycled into the second contact zone. The phosphoric acid thus obtained is suitable for use in human foods and beverages.

A method for producing a pure phosphoric acid from a phosphoric acid obtained through a wet process, in a high purity comparable to that from the dry process phosphoric acid, in a simpler manner, at a cheaper cost and more effectively, is provided, which method resides, in one main aspect, in concentrating a phosphoric acid obtained through the wet process, up to a P.sub.2 O.sub.5 content of 30% by weight or higher; treating the resulting phosphoric acid with diisopropylcarbinol to extract a pure phosphoric acid; and back-extracting the pure phosphoric acid in the resulting extract with water, and also resides, in another main aspect, in subjecting a wet process phosphoric acid, to either a step of partially neutralizing said acid with an alkali, ammonia or a salt thereof, followed by adding a water-soluble low boiling organic solvent to said acid, or a step of adding a water-soluble low boiling organic solvent to said phosphoric acid, followed by partially neutralizing with an alkali or ammonia or a salt thereof; separating the resulting precipitate; after distilling off said solvent, treating the resulting solution with an extracting agent comprising diisopropylcarbinol to extract a phosphoric acid; and back-extracting the resulting solution with water.
