The system includes an inflation cylinder configured to hold a gas mixture under pressure, a heating element configured to selectively heat the gas mixture and a temperature sensor configured to measure a temperature of the gas mixture. A control module is coupled to the heating element and the temperature sensor. The the control module controls heating of the gas mixture based on the measured temperature, a mass of the gas mixture and a volume of the inflation cylinder.

    摘要: A rapid deployment system has an inflatable landing tube with an inflatable exit slide coupled to an aircraft. Connectors couple the landing tube to the aircraft. Flexible retarders extend inward from the inner surface of the tube for retarding gravitational descent of cargo and/or personnel from the aircraft. The tube has tubular segments, with ribs and reinforcements, forming a continuous descent tube. A spine along the tube is retractable telescopically allowing for the tube to be retracted within the aircraft. The tube is connected to exterior edges of any exit port of the aircraft. A window coaming adapter is positioned around the exterior edges and a membrane extending between sides of the adapter expands with the landing tube as the landing tube is inflated. The membrane is of multiple layers with expansion cells between adjacent layers for allowing independent expansion of the layers. The entry port has a shield behind the membrane and connected to the aircraft for protecting the membrane. The shield has a couple of arms lying in a straight line when the landing tube is inactivated and separating and swinging outward from each other when the landing tube is activated. Another shield extends between edges of the exit port sandwiching the membrane between the two shields. An override lock on the one shield prevents that shield from opening automatically.

    摘要: An inflatable evacuation slide system includes an inflatable evacuation slide stored in a packboard compartment the cover panel of which is retained by a plurality of frangible pneumatic latches. The frangible pneumatic latches each comprise a tension member one end of which is attached to the packboard housing and the other end of which is releasably attached to the cover panel. In normal operation, a pneumatic signal operating on an actuator piston withdraws the piston to allow the latch mechanism to release the cover panel. In the event of a failure of the release mechanism, since the releasable latch secures the cover panel to the frangible tension member rather than to the packboard directly, the force of the inflating evacuation slide breaks the frangible member allowing the cover panel to drop away with only a brief delay in slide deployment.

    摘要: A dual stage hybrid inflation device includes a first stage gas source having a pressurized gas stored in a first stage pressure vessel and a second stage gas source having a pyrotechnic gas generator having a gas output directed into the first stage pressure vessel. The first stage pressure vessel is in fluid communication with an inflatable device such as an aircraft emergency evacuation slide via an externally actuated valve upstream of a pressure actuated valve such as a rupturable diaphragm. A control circuit provides a signal to the externally actuated valve to begin a flow of gases from first stage pressure vessel to a chamber on the upstream side of the burst diaphragm. The control circuit also sends a signal to the squib that initiates the pyrotechnic second stage gas source. As the pyrotechnic gas generator of the second stage gas source burns, the hot gaseous products of the second stage gas source mix with the pressurized gas stored in the first stage pressure vessel a predetermined time after the externally actuated valve opens.

    摘要: An inflation system for inflating an inflatable evacuation slide includes an enclosure containing an uninflated, stored evacuation slide. The enclosure is sealed by means of a tightly fitting enclosure door that optionally includes a seal for excluding dirt and moisture. The system also includes a source of pressurized gas comprising a conventional pyrotechnic gas generator, stored pressurized gas, or hybrid inflator. The inflation system includes an overpressure relief vent, which vents inflation gas outside of the inflatable member in the event of an overpressure condition in the gas source. The overpressure relief vent includes a directional vent connected to a conduit. The conduit passes from the overpressure relief vent to an opening in the aircraft fuselage, which allows any vented gas to be safely directed away from the inflation system enclosure.
