    摘要: The present disclosure is drawn to laser etched, sintered ceramic orthodontic brackets. Such a bracket can comprise a working surface including an archwire slot and a ligating structure. The bracket can also include a laser etched tooth attachment surface that is laser etched after sintering of the ceramic orthodontic bracket. In another example, a method of increasing the average bonding strength of a sintered ceramic orthodontic bracket can comprise laser etching a tooth attachment surface of the sintered ceramic orthodontic bracket. In one specific example, the method can further comprise the preliminary steps of forming a ceramic material into a shape of an orthodontic bracket and sintering the orthodontic bracket.

    摘要: The invention provides a tube to be used in orthodontics wherein said tube replaces the use of brackets in an orthodontic treatment. The orthodontic tube of the present invention is surrounded by a resin and this resin also serves as a bond agent to affix the tube to a patient's tooth. The orthodontic tube serves as a conduit for an archwire in order to impose upon each tooth only the force required to reset the position of the tooth to a desired configuration relative to the other teeth in the patient's mouth.The orthodontic tube of the present invention has an enhanced external shape that better adapts to the teeth's geometry and therefore, it offers enlarged area of contact between the flat outer section of the orthodontics tube and the tooth; in addition, this flat outer section lessens the volume of the tube that extends outwardly from the patient's teeth and the configuration of the internal space of the tube enhances the control of the archwire within the tube and diminishes the friction, all these characteristics facilitate the reposition the teeth.

    摘要: This invention is a dynamic orthodontic bracket system which allows brackets to be adjusted for particular angulations required for each individual tooth of a patient, while the frames are continuously attached to tooth surface. The orthodontist manually adjusts the relationship of a bracket and a frame during treatment eliminating the necessity of a full repositioning of all components. The bracket can be locked or unlocked within the frame with the use of a plate having a tapered thickness. The bracket is positioned such that it can move in various directions to achieve a proper angulation for tooth repositioning. The exterior of the frame can also be textured to provide more secure attachment to the surface of the tooth. This system leads to lower treatment cost, a more stable bracket system, and quicker adjustments of the orthodontic bracket system.

    摘要: The invention provides a bracket having horizontally extending tabs that allow the arch wire to be ligated in either an active or passive manner using a ligation device such as an elastomeric band, metal ligature tie or the like. For an active ligation the ligation device is wrapped behind the tabs to press the arch wire into the bracket groove, and for a passive ligation the ligation device is wrapped in front of the behind two tabs that are diagonally oriented across the bracket groove, without pressing the arch wire into the bracket groove, or pressing the arch wire into the groove with a reduced force compared to the active ligation.

    摘要: An orthodontic appliance has a post attached to a first upper tooth, and a button with a recess attached to a second upper tooth. An elongated arm has an eye at one end through which the post is inserted to allow the elongated arm to rotate about the post, and a tip at the other end for removable insertion into the recess of the button. The length of the elongated arm is selectable to maintain a desired spacing between the first and second upper teeth (e.g., by cutting the tip of the elongated arm). An elastic extends from either the post or button to an attachment point on the patient's lower dental arch to exert a force between the patient's maxilla and mandible.
