Abstract:
A moisture-reducing paper tray including a desiccant that absorbs moisture from the environment of the paper tray and consequently the paper supply itself. As a result, the desiccant may become saturated as moisture is adsorbed. In one embodiment of the invention, the desiccant may be changed for a fresh desiccant. In an alternate embodiment of the invention, the moisture-reducing paper tray may also include a drying mechanism which includes a heating element, a blower and a humidity sensor. The humidity sensor is positioned to sense a humidity level in the paper tray. When a pre-selected humidity level in the paper tray is equaled or exceeded, the heating element and blower are energized and warm air passes into the paper tray drying the desiccant.
Abstract:
An ink cartridge refilling station incorporates a receptacle for receiving an ink cartridge, a supply of ink and a refilling mechanism for automatically adding ink to the ink cartridge from the supply of ink. An ink cartridge, for use with the cartridge refilling station, includes a reservoir for holding a supply of ink and an input port communicating with the reservoir, the port being configured to receive ink from the automated ink refilling station.
Abstract:
A method and system for managing and manipulating documents sent via e-mail wherein dedicated e-mail addresses associated with daemons, or other programming code, are used to direct the functions carried out on the documents, such as printing, storing, or posting to an Internet file, portions of an e-mail message or attachments.
Abstract:
In a computer system, print jobs are printed on a selected printer utilizing the printer properties in effect for that printer at the time that the print job was spooled for printing. Typically, the printer prints utilizing default printer properties. However, users may temporarily override these default values by specifying temporary printer properties from within applications. A printer properties notification is provided to a user when temporary printer properties are in effect when printing is initiated. Selection buttons provided during this notification allow the user to then indicate how to proceed.
Abstract:
Predetermined indicia are detected in a digital image that is formed by optical scanning. Alternatively, or in addition, a digital image can have a predefined insertion field. Input and/or an optically scanned image is substituted in the digital image for the predetermined indicia and/or for the predefined insertion field. The digital image having the substitution is rendered.
Abstract:
A system and a method pertain to packaging a document file together with a translator to form a job package, opening the job package, identifying the translator, and installing the translator in memory of an imaging device.
Abstract:
One method embodiment of providing an identification key to a printing device or printing device consumable includes storing the identification key in a memory module affixed to a printing device consumable.
Abstract:
A method for wirelessly connecting a workstation, such as a computer, to a local area network includes selecting a LAN with which the workstation is to communicate. A wireless LAN access device that communicates with a processor of the workstation receives signals broadcast by wireless LAN ports. The signals are evaluated to identify those signals which originated from wireless LAN ports of the selected LAN. A connection protocol is then selected, based on a signal from one of the wireless LAN ports of the selected LAN, to establish a connection and, thus, communication between the wireless LAN access device of the workstation and that wireless LAN port. If such communication is established, one or more security identifiers may be provided from the workstation to the selected LAN. A connection program, which is embodied as instructions on one or more storage media, may be used to effect the method.
Abstract:
Methods of monitoring a media imaging system, media imaging monitoring systems, articles of manufacture, and data signals are described. According to one aspect, a method of monitoring a media imaging system includes providing image data comprising a plurality of image jobs configured to cause a plurality of media imaging devices of the media imaging system to generate a plurality of hard images upon media, wherein the image jobs correspond to respective ones of the media imaging devices, reassigning at least one of the image jobs from one of the media imaging devices to correspond to another of the media imaging devices, and obtaining performance data regarding imaging operations of the media imaging devices with respect to imaging of hard images upon media according to the image data after the reassigning.
Abstract:
Text that is adjacent to predetermined indicia is detected in a digital image. Alternatively, or in addition, a digital image can have text that is adjacent to a predefined insertion field. Text that is input and/or derived from an optically scanned image is substituted in the digital image for the predetermined indicia and/or for the predefined insertion field. The substituted text matches the font of text adjacent thereto in the digital image. The digital image having the substitution is rendered.
