摘要： An electromagnetic switch for use in actuating a starter for automotive vehicles is provided. The switch includes fixed contacts, a moving contact, and a plunger shaft. The moving contact is joined to a plunger shaft through an insulator. The plunger shaft is to be moved magnetically to bring the moving contact into abutment with the fixed contact to establish electric communication between the fixed contact. The switch also includes a rotation holder working to hold the moving contact and the insulator from rotating relative to each other. Use of the rotation holder results in a decrease in wear of the insulator. This eliminates the need for the insulator to have an additional thickness which would be worn down, thus permitting the insulator to be reduced in thickness to shorten the overall length of the switch.

摘要： A clutch is provided with a flat washer arranged in contact with an end surface at a pinion gear side of an outer clutch in an axial direction, a half-divided washer that is arranged adjoining the flat washer of the pinion gear side in its axial direction, and a covering member that fits into the perimeter of the pinion neck portion, and is arranged adjoining the pinion gear side in the axial direction of the half-divided washer so that the covering member prevents the foreign substances, such as dust or moisture that enter into the inside of the clutch. A clutch cover fixes the washers and the covering member to the clutch. The covering member is formed of the paper material, for example, into which oil is infiltrated and has one slit in the direction of a circumference for easy attaching to the pinion neck portion.

摘要： A starting apparatus includes a drive motor and a reduction gear having a planetary gear for starting an engine by the drive motor via the reduction gear. An internal gear of the reduction gear includes a locking projection projecting in an axial direction. A rotation restricting member is formed with a guide groove in which the locking projection is loosely received and guided in a circumferential direction. A shock absorbing member is held in the guide groove in a state of being elastically in close contact with the locking projection in the circumferential direction. Thus, shock load to the internal gear is alleviated from the start.

摘要： In an electromagnet switch, a stationary iron core is composed mainly of a base part and a disk part. The base part is faced to a plunger and the disk part is forcedly inserted and fixed to a boss part formed in the base part. The disk part is composed of a metal plate of ferromagnetic substance (iron plate) and another substance plate (made of resin or rubber and the like, for example,) of a smaller spring constant or a larger damping coefficient than that of the metal plate. The metal plate and another substance plate are laminated. Another substance plate absorbs or reduces the impact force when the plunger is electromagnetically attracted toward and collides with the base part. The propagation of a large impact noise or crashing sound is thereby suppressed, and as a result the impact noise can be reduced.

摘要： In an electromagnetic switch of a starter, a bobbin has two terminal holders on a flange. Each of the terminal holders defines a slot on its end surface and a terminal is press-fitted in the slot in an axial direction of the bobbin. An end of an excitation coil wound around the bobbin is pulled out the bobbin and connected to the terminal. A molded cover provides a through hole and is mounted on the terminal so that the terminal passes through the through hole. A sealing member is press-fitted on the terminal to air-tightly seal the through hole. A rod cover fitted on a rod supporting a movable contact has slits on its cylindrical part in the axial direction. The slits are closed before a distal end of the cylindrical part.
