Abstract: A display device includes a first electrode and a second electrode that are spaced apart from and facing each other; a light-blocking layer disposed above the first electrode and the second electrode; and at least one light-emitting element disposed between the first electrode and the second electrode. The light-blocking layer includes a light-blocking portion absorbing light and an opening pattern. The light-blocking portion includes an area partially overlapping the first electrode and the second electrode. The at least one opening pattern exposes portions of the first and second electrodes facing each other and at least a portion of an area between the first and second electrodes facing each other. The at least one light-emitting element overlaps the at least one opening pattern.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing a display device including a substrate including a display area and a non-display area located outside the display area, the display area including pixel areas, is provided. First switching elements are formed in the pixel areas, respectively, and a circuit element layer that includes reference voltage wire in the non-display area and electrically connected to the first switching elements is formed. Pixel electrodes that include first pixel electrodes in the pixel areas on the circuit element layer, respectively, and electrically connected through the first switching elements to the reference voltage wire, and second pixel electrodes facing the first pixel electrodes, are formed. A plurality of light emitting elements are arranged between the first pixel electrodes and the second pixel electrodes. A first source voltage is applied to the reference voltage wire and a second source voltage is applied to the second pixel electrodes.

Abstract: A display device including a substrate and a plurality of pixels in a display region of the substrate. Each of the pixels includes first and second sub-pixels, and each of the first and second sub-pixels has a light emitting region for emitting light. The first sub-pixel includes a first light emitting element in the light emitting region and configured to emit visible light. The second sub-pixel includes a second light emitting element in the light emitting region and configured to emit infrared light and a light receiving element configured to receive the infrared light emitted from the second light emitting element to detect a user's touch. The second light emitting element and the light receiving element in the second sub-pixel are electrically insulated from and optically coupled to each other to form a photo-coupler.

The second pixel-defining layer is disposed on the first pixel-defining layer and includes an organic material. A sidewall of the first pixel-defining layer that is closest to the opening is aligned with a sidewall of the second pixel-defining layer that is closest to the opening.
