    Abstract: A configurable new radio (NR) resource scheduling and indication transmission procedure that may be executed by a base station and a user equipment (UE) is disclosed. For example, a base station may determine a number of synchronization signal blocks available for transmission of non-scheduling data, and transmit an indication signifying at least one of the number of synchronization signal blocks or a location of each of the number of synchronization signal blocks. Further, a UE may receiving an indication signifying at least one of a number of synchronization signal blocks or a location of each of the number of synchronization signal blocks. The UE may further determine one or more resource elements forming the number of synchronization signal blocks where non-scheduling data has been scheduled for transmission. The UE may receive the non-scheduling data within the one or more resource elements forming the number of synchronization signal blocks.

    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques to improve reliability and robustness for millimeter wave (mmW) systems in fifth generation (5G) wireless communications technology (also referred to as new radio (NR)). Specifically, the present disclosure provides techniques to allow the base station to group a plurality of mmW beams for communication with the user equipment (UE) such that the selected beam(s) for communication are independent and uncorrelated. The selection of beams ensure macro-diversity in that the joint blocking probability of the selected beam(s) may be minimized and the susceptibility to blockage is reduced in comparison to the current systems.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to transmitting and receiving improved quality reports using different transmission states. A base station may transmit to a user equipment (UE) a channel comprising multiple beams, wherein the beams include different Transmission Configuration Indicator (TCI) states. The UE can then perform beam quality measurements for the multiple beams. The beam quality measurements can include different channel quality indicator (CQI) measurements and can be performed using the same or different spatial filters. The UE can then determine a combined beam quality report for the different beams and transmit the report to the base station. The beam quality report can also comprise a comparison of, the difference between, or the average of, the different CQI measurements. The UE can also receive a configuration of filtering coefficients from the base station, wherein the beam quality report comprises filtered CQI information.

    Abstract: A user equipment apparatus determines whether a transmission is received from a base station within a time window and skips measurement of a reference signal during a subsequent period, when a transmission is received from the base station within the time window. A base station apparatus configures a UE to monitor one or more reference signals associated with a beam pair link and transmits a first signal in a transmission to the UE. The base station determines whether the transmission is received at the UE within a time window and determines whether to transmit a reference signal, based on whether the transmission is received at the UE within the time window. Upon determining that the transmission was received at the UE, the base station may skip transmission of the reference signal or modify a time, a frequency, a power, and/or a reference signal offset for the reference signal.

    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide for the transmission of group common control information in 5G New Radio (NR) wireless communication systems. Group common control information may be transmitted to a group or subset of user equipment (UEs) within a cell utilizing a beam-sweeping configuration. A base station may utilize a plurality of transmit beams to transmit information within the cell, and a subset of the transmit beams may be identified for use in transmitting the group common control information to the group of UEs. In addition, the base station may identify spatial quasi-colocation (QCL) relationships between reference beams corresponding in direction to the selected subset of transmit beams and resources reserved for the group common control information and provide the spatial QCL relationships to the UEs in the group.
